Voyage [Deluxe 1CD ECO Box]

Take two... I'm redoing my review of this album because I had created a review for a different album in a word processor for spell checking purposes. Then pasted that review here! I really appreciate this album because its like revisiting an old friend. I've always been a fan of nice harmonies and ABBA was among the best back in my high school years. Getting to hear them again was a treat.

When the word of this new album came out, I couldn't wait! I half expected geriatric rock (they're all in their 70's now), but what I heard was as fresh as anything they put out... 40 years ago! Agnetha and Frida's voices sound as great as ever, and they still blend in that magic way.The extras included here include some pictures that have previously been unseen, as well as a booklet about the making of the album, as well as the upcoming ABBAtar show. Fascinating reading, for sure.The songs... everything you'd expect from the writing team of Andersson and Ulvaeus. Not a single clinker on the album. They all tell a story. "I Still Have Faith In You", the first single, reaffirms how little they've lost in the years since "The Visitors". "Little Things" is a look at a Christmas morning, as the children are opening their presents, and their mother is taking it all in. "Don't Shut Me Down" has a woman hoping for a second chance with the man she broke up with. "Keep An Eye On Dan" has divorced parents sharing visitation with their young son, and the pain of having to do so. As I said, every song tells a story.A note on the sound: if you compare this with any of their previous albums, you can really hear how recording technology has evolved in the 40 years between "Voyage" and the later albums, such as "Super Trouper". The sound on this new CD is more full-bodied, making the group sound like they're right in your room with you. If only there could have been a multichannel, hybrid SACD; this album would be a perfect candidate for the Surround treatment. But you must add this album to your collection. Even if you won't admit it, come one, you love ABBA!

Has wonderful inserts and pictures of the ABBA members. Buy one to open, and buy one to save. Their first album 40 years after their last one! A collectors item for sure. They still sound great and I have played this so much I am surprised I haven’t worn it out! Love this collector’s edition!!!

The group is still fine but not what I thought it would be...I must admit that I was a bit disappointed.

ABBA produces Beautiful music. It pleases my ears !!

This album had more solos and less harmonies than their 70’s albums.
