The Unexpected Guest : A Novel Out of Africa

One of the best books that I have read for a long time took me back to days in africa

I found the story heartbreakingly authentic because I identified personally with it. Having been a Zimbabwean farmer forced off the land and now living in the UK, it spoke to me personally. All the characters were unique, well-portrayed, and the story took some unexpected turns.A little spoiled by a number of grammatical errors, but a great read all the same.

Again Samantha Ford has created a wonderful story out of Africa. The emotions she brings to her stories are fantastic. Her people and the places she writes about live. What insight Samantha has. Thankyou for all your stories but especially this story of little Abby and how she touched the hearts of us all.

I could not out down this book. I was back in my beloved Africa as I read through this riveting book. Every page was like a memory unfolding.

A powerful story to explain how a mystery child emerges from the bush in front of guests at an expensive game lodge. Full of intrigue as the mystery unravels. A heart searching story well written.

I enjoyed this book it took me back to Africa where I lived for some years. It was a book club choice and was given 4 stars. One member commented on the use of too many commas and the use of the english language in some places. Nerverthe less it was a good read. Will read some of her other books.

Enjoyed it a lot but felt a little disappointed in the quick and rushed conclusion. The story needed to build more in the middle.

Loved this book! I'm South African and have lived away from home for a long time. Samantha Ford transported me back to my homeland from the very first page. I've read and loved all of her books, but The Unexpected Guest is by far her best to date. Her storytelling is superb and she has an amazing ability of bringing the magic of the African bush alive for the reader. I cant wait for her next book!

Great read - intrigue, sadness and happiness entwined with the stories of indomitable men and women striving to fight the greed of ruthless people who care about nothing but making money - sadly there are too many such people in this world today.

Terrific and heartbreaking story, with beautiful African sky’s and descriptions of the bush, the ocean and British African connections loved it!

Anxiously waiting for the next book from this author who's creativity always amazes me. Read all her books. Loved it.

Good read

Beautifully written with very believable characters. This book will break your heart and make you believe in the 'good guys'.
