Works great! Affordable solution to restoring "chrome look" to small plastic toys
This will get your toys looking ALMOST as good as new. If you don't want to work with expensive, dangerous chemicals, this is so far your best bet that I've found for small chrome style projects... I bought this pen after careful research and looking for ages for an affordable solution to restoring "silver chrome" surfaces to old toys (in this case, some heavily worn vintage Kenner "R2-D2" Star Wars figures). As many others online have suggested, after covering a generous surface of the plastic toy, I left it untouched on a shelf in the open air for 1 week (actually 8 days) before handling. It retained its shiny, mirror-reflective surface (far superior to the mere "silver" spray paint, acrylic paint and paint markers out there that don't look like chrome). It's not 100% perfect, the actual aluminum coating on "chrome toys" is somewhat shinier and brighter and I expect has a harder coat, being bonded directly to the plastic in most cases. I took the advice of others in working quickly, not touching the clean & dried surface while working, and not applying a second coat while it was drying. Over 1 week later, I can touch it (with clean hands) and it doesn't immediately dull as others have indicated happens if you touch it before 1 week. Overall it works pretty well. I would recommend though that the surface underneath should be as clean and paint-free as possible before you begin. I had previously painted one of these figures myself and while the reflective "chrome" coat looks beautiful, you can see the imperfections from my earlier brush strokes underneath. Now I only wish there were other versions of this, say in GOLD (then I could touch up C3PO!). I see others have tried "mixing" this chrome pen with acrylic paints to get other colors but the results have all been dull, in which case you might as well just use some gold acrylic paint, as you immediately lose the chrome effect. I have not tried applying a clear coat, as I'm told most clear coats dull the chrome effect. Update: I have had it recommended to me to use "Liquitex professional high gloss varnish" as a clear coat AFTER the liquid chrome has completely cured. I acquired a jar of this varnish (it was quite expensive, $18 for an 8 oz bottle at my local Hobby Lobby store) but have not yet attempted to see how it looks. The bottle says it is "permanent" so I will probably test it on a piece of plastic scrap at some point and post results, which of course will take more than a week to complete!

These are the best you can buy
I love these chrome pens. 1mm is perfect for marking just about any surface and the chrome really stands out! My only complaint is that you must order from 3rd party in the usa as they do not directly sell these to us customers. I do not think these are refillable- but lager versions of these are. I am sure they will eventually dry out and the pen will have to be replaced- but the price is worth it and I use these exclusively for all my projects now.

I won't ever use another brand
The best brand of Liquid chrome pens on the market. Their 1.0mm tip being the most fluid.

No instruction
I use it for HO slot car bodies. It is more chrome than model paint. I like it, but there is no instruction on how to use it or store it. You have to learn on your own. You need to push to prime, but if you do more than needed the the tip will come off and the paint will spill. If you store it tip up, the tip dries and make it harder to prime the next time. I am keeping it side way, rather than tip down, but I don't know if that is the right way.

FINALLY! Chrome. Looks like metal!
Nothing like it! If you build model cars and hobbies, this is a MUST HAVE.

Where was this twenty years ago?
Wow, I wish I had this stuff years ago, instead of struggling with Bare Metal Foil on model cars. Unfortunately, the model car hobby scene is in it's death throes now. This is amazing stuff. It really is a great relacement for Bare Metal foil and is a lot easier to apply. Durability wise I don't know how it will hold up over time. It also seems to have a limited shelf life. After a while it loses it's glossy coating and looks more like silver paint instead of chrome. It might have to do with whether you store it vertically or lying down. Overall, a great product!

Great product and a great vendor to match!
Straight up, the product is fantastic. It stands alone in it's class. I have yet to find any paint that can emulate chrome like this item does. Is it cheap? Not really. BUT considering the quality and that there really isn't an acceptable alternative, the price is a little easier to swallow. AND, very important in this day of online shopping, the vendor is fantastic. When I received my pen, in my eagerness to get the paint flowing, I dabbed the tip too hard and the nib came loose and paint flowed out the sides of the nib. I sent them an email explaining my situation and before they even responded to my message, they shipped me another item for free. You have to respect this level of customer service. Buy with confidence. Great item, great vendor!

Can't tell it from factory chrome
Just started scale model car building after 40 years away. Of all the new products to come out in those years this, to me, is the most amazing. You can add chrome to any part, big or little. When removing chrome parts from sprue there is damage to that parts chrome. This repairs it. It is great for window trim, bumpers.and such. HOWEVER... it does come out thick and plentiful. I find it impossible to use to highlight car badging/nameplates. Even the 1mm pen is too big for the tiny details. But this looks like chrome right off the factory floor!! **** You do have to wait 24 hours for it to completely cure, and best not to touch before that.... or too much even after. Great product. Delivery was a little slow.
