I've ruined several pair of expensive glasses over the years from not understanding how to clean my lenses and from using the little cloths I got from my optometrists. These lens cloths are great! They're large enough to handle and fold. Now, I wash my lenses with Dawn dishsoap and warm water. First rinse them under the water to dislodge any dust, next gently rub the lenses with my soapy fingers, then dry them with this cloth. My current glasses are almost two years old and look like I just bought them. Also, I don't wash these cloths. I keep them in a plastic bag, use them for a few months, then buy new ones. I don't want to risk getting hard water deposits or other residue on the cloths. It's worth getting new ones to protect my expensive glasses.

I’m an avid nature photographer, and often find myself and my camera gear out in the elements. One of the things I’m constantly battling is water droplets from waterfalls, rain, or sea spray landing on the front element of my lens. In order to avoid messing up my shots, I need to constantly be removing the droplets. Although a blower is great when there’s only a few drops, I’ve found the best method for quickly and efficiently removing large amounts of water from the front element is to use a lens cloth to wipe it down. The trick is finding a cloth with the right thickness and consistency, that will quickly absorb the water while allowing you to wipe down the lens without leaving any streaks, residue or lint behind. Suffice to say, I had a really hard time finding a lens cloth that worked well in this regard… but then I found this! BY FAR, this Zeiss lens cloth is the best lens cloth I’ve ever used - to the point where I now own FIVE of these, and will buy no other kind! When I’m photographing waterfalls, seascapes, etc., I keep 3 or 4 of these cloths in my pocket, and when one gets too saturated with water, I switch to the next. Aside from wiping off water droplets in the field, I also love these cloths for general cleaning of my lenses, due to their excellent residue removing ability. Except in the most extreme of circumstances (like when I’ve had my lens soaked in salty sea spray), all I need to do is blow away any particles using a blower, then exhale onto the front element to provide a bit of moisture (I’m not a fan of using lens cleaning solutions, unless I really need to), and then wipe away whatever’s there with one of these cloths... and I’m done. Can’t recommend this particular lens cloth enough! PROS: - Excellent for wiping water off front lens element in the field while photographing waterfalls, seascapes, etc. - Excellent for general cleaning of lens elements - Nice, large size, to ensure you don’t have to switch to a clean cloth too often - White colour is good for seeing any oil, dirt, etc. on the cloth that might transfer over to the lens CONS: - Price can be a little high. But if you look around, you can find good deals on these. - Reaching a bit, it would be nice if this came with a carrying pouch of some sort, to keep it clean while in your camera bag PICTURE: Shows the lens cloth in relation to the Nikon 70-200 f4 lens, to give sense of size.
