Loon Outdoors Ergo Bobbin

Tension is almost non existing and very difficult for a new tier like me.Why / what are the ergonomic features of this bobbin? Loon products are generally very good and why I decided upon this bobbin. Again, very disappointing and aggravating.

Love most products from Loon. This bobbin is awful. The spool holder does not flex enough to hold a normal size thread spool securely. When you squeeze the spool to add tension to your fly the spool will pop out. I like to have the ability to squeeze the bobbin to add more or less pressure on the thread. Any squeezing with this and you loose your thread spool. Much better off tying with the wire flex cheap bobbins.

I have used the cheapo bobbins for years and decided to try this one. Glad I did. I like it almost as much as my Rite Bobbin. It is very comfortable to hold, easy to adjust tension, and feels very strong especially when tugging on deer hair wraps. I like it so much I bought a second one. Great product!

So strangely this bobbin doesn't have nobs that actually fit into the thread. the kind of sit there, but if you are tying tight threads, you are going to pull it out. Unlike several of my other streamer specific bobbins where I can set the resistance, you have to use your hand to set the resistance, and that can be annoying at times. So its better than nothing, and better than some of the other bobbins, but def not my favorite of bobbins.

I personally love it. It fits the spools that I use just right. It's not too loose and it's not too tight. I have zero issues with it and I plan on using it instead of having to wrap the thread completely by hand.

Good Size, Comfort, but Poor Spool Holding. I've noticed as I have used this bobbin more and more, I often apply pressure on the thread and the spool slips out of one of the bobbin's hands. This is not crippling by any means but more of a nuisance.

This item shows that it is black powder coated but what you get is the chrome and brass one that is the cheaper version.

It really bulky and does not hold the spool tight. Don't waste the money
