Pursuit V Spinning Reel

I used this Penn 8000 Reel today at Texas City Dike, Texas. I take the drag off so the fish will not pull the rod in the ocean or break the pole, reel, or line. I have seen this happen. There are sharks in this waterway that are several hundred pounds. I caught 2 Monster Drum Fish. One fish ( 36" fish)on my old reel. The drag could not hold the fish. I had to pull it ashore by hand. However, a short time later. I caught another Monster Drum ( 24" fish, see pictures) on the new Penn 8000 reel. I forgot to set the drag in the excitement. However, the Penn 8000 brought the fish in, and I was able to pull the fish up without a net (since the first fish broke my net). Some have complained and returned this product because "it was loose." I was going to buy this reel a few years ago at a local Fish and Boat store. It was approximately $150. However, you had to state whether you are left-handed or right-handed. I think all these reels are "right-handed ( since the majority of people are right-handed). When you try to attach the handle on the left-hand side, it is very loose and does not crank the line spool. The manufacturer may have an adapter for left -handed people. I highly recommend this product.

Great saltwater reel for the price

I love Penn reels, they are my favorite. Let me share my experience with this particular product. Bought the 1st reel back in July and after a long time waiting for it, it finally arrived. As my many other Penn reels, this one stood the battles i put it through until today when it finally gave in. The second reel I bought didn’t even get a single fish on board b/c it broke right away. It was a very disappointing time b/c I couldn't even enjoy it. It appears that the gears me mechanism is making some grinding noise thus not allowing the reel to spool. The exact same happened to my first reel, but I was able to put it through a lot of stress and it handled well. I am used to the great quality of Penn reels, but these reels aren’t built the same way they used to. Overall, for the price I paid, I am somewhat satisfied. I just wished the second reel had lasted as long as the second one. Now I am without either reel and back to waiting forever to get a new one. Hope this review helps!

This is not a fresh out the box review. This is a full year of using this reel. All this reel has known sense I bought it is salt water use. Inshore and pier fishing even standing waste deep in ocean. I bought the 2500 paired it with a 7’6 Dream catcher rod. This reel has literally reeled in hundreds of fish ( spotted trout, Spanish mackerel, sheep head, blues, and spots ) and cast after cast after cast it has preformed flawlessly. I get very long cast with 15lb braid with about 3ft fluorocarbon leader. The only issue I have ever had with it was one time I allowed sand to get inside it, after a quick and easy tear down, cleaning and re-greasing it went back to ripping lips. I’m very happy and I encourage anyone who is shopping and reading reviews trying to pick the perfect reel to just get the peen and be done.

Buenos carretes, compré dos con una oferta que había y contento con ellos. El freno es bastante sensible y aprieta bastante con cada clic. Tal vez podía ser mas progresivo pero poniéndome muy exquisito...
