Accurate, informative, and interesting! Perfect for veterinary anatomy students!
I am a veterinarian and a board-certified anatomic pathologist. I have taught a comparative anatomy course for undergraduates for over 10 years and have struggled with finding the perfect anatomy book for my students, who aren't ready for the dense veterinary anatomy standards like Miller's or Dyce, but who need more detail than say the Colville text. Turns out, my students prefer my PPTs (where I essentially curate/distill the important info from the big reference texts) but have repeatedly asked for a supplemental coloring book like they may have used for a human anatomy or biology class. I have extensive experience with the Saunder's coloring book, which lacks text. It's basically figures/legends from other textbooks. It's OK, but dry and unengaging. So when this book "Beneath the Skin, Scale, Fur & Feather" was offered as a Kickstarter project, I was thrilled! I shared my copy with my anatomy TAs who also love it and bought their own copies. Now that it's available on Amazon, it will be the only required text for my class next year. The sections start with a basic intro to the structure in a common species (usu. dog) and then branch into other species highlighting the differences/similarities and providing interesting "fun facts" or explanations. Definitely an interesting read and I learned new things too! My students often have an interest in comparative anatomy or wildlife species and there is information about crocodiles and giraffes, for example, that really captivate my students. The illustrations are very well planned out. For example, the structures are numbered in each chapter and so you can pick the same color for the humerus of each animal and really observe the comparative structures visually. The text is understandable to probably something like 12+ or maybe even 10+ if you have an animal crazy kid like mine.

Perfect for tweens with a serious interest in becoming a Vet.
My daughter has loved animals since she was very little, but as she has gotten older we needed more resources that were more appropriate for older kids but NOT a college level anatomy book. This coloring book hits the mark. It’s still Fun But they are really learning about the anatomy of the animals included. It’s a wonderful additional resource to what Vet Set Go already has on their website.

Comparative Anatomy for Kids (and adults!)
I got one of these coloring books for my 11 year old niece who is determined to become a veterinarian when she grows up… and I got one for myself because I am a veterinary nurse who refuses to grow up… and I just ordered another one as a gift for another young girl who loves science. This coloring book is fantastic, beautifully drawn and very educational! A great gift for tweens or teens that love animals and science, or for anyone in the veterinary medical profession who needs a little coloring therapy!

Amazing Visuals, Amazing Book!
My daughter is crazy over all things animals and has always known she wants to be a veterinarian. I got her this book and she absolutely loves it. I have never seen her concentrate and focus so much on all the details and take to learning as she has with this book. It is beautifully laid out and follows all the anatomy of dozens and dozens of animals. This really is a must have for all kids (or adults) interested in anything related to animal healthcare.
