The Edge Gamepad V2, NES classic

I grabbed this pad because it looked like the stock pad
When I managed to actually find an NES Classic (after camping outside one of my local Target stores since 5am only to be told they had none and try another local store 2 hours into my camp and being lucky enough to get the last one at that store), I was dismayed by two things. First was the horrid choice to use an 18 inch cord on the stock controller, second was my complete inability to find a second Nintendo branded controller.I went to the local Walmart because they were one of the few local places that had NES Classic accessories in stock. I grabbed this pad because it looked like the stock pad. Upon opening it, I could see that it also felt exactly like the NES Classic stock pad. Another bonus of the pad was the 9 foot cable length. After playing around a bit with it, I can say that I like this pad a lot. That's not to say that it's flawless, there are some issues that I had with the pad, none of which have made me regret the purchase of it.There are an additional pair of buttons above the standard B and A buttons. The first is a turbo button. It acts as a turbo for either A or B, depending on which button is selected on the toggle switch that sits above the start button. The second new button is an A+B button. I would have much preferred that the 2 buttons were each individual turbo buttons for B and A respectively. With the current setup, you can only have turbo on one of the buttons at a time. The second issue I have with the pad is that while the B and A buttons are pretty identical to its Nintendo brand counterpart, the D-Pad sits out further from the face of the controller than it does on the stock pad. This is by no means a deal breaker, but if you're used to the stock D-Pad, this one will take a bit of getting used to.That being said, this is a good, solid controller, and it's definitely worth the purchase if you need a pad for your NES Classic

Great 9 foot controller and cheat book
The controller that came with the system was to short and the buttons sometimes did not work. This one has has a 9 foot cord and it works great it also comes with a cheat book that has instructions for the game and cheat codes. I love watching my sister and brother in law play their old favorite game Super Contra they are so funny.

Works most of the time, but sometimes there is some noticeable input lag. Worth it to get a second player on the NES Classic.

Surprised by the quality of dpad and buttons...but you have to make sure you are getting VERSION 2
I bought this at Walmart. The cord is long, the buttons feel nice, and most importantly, the D-Pad is accurate and very close to the original Nintendo pad. No falling off ladders in SMB 2 or funky movement in Zelda with this Emio Pad. I find the turbo and B+A functions pretty useless, but no matter, since adding the extra buttons didn't mean moving the location of the original buttons, so the controller feel is the same as Nintendo's. Compared to the controller that is packed in with the NES classic, this one obviously has a longer cord and extra buttons/functions, but is also heavier, and made with a semi-glossy plastic, vs. the lightweight matte-finish of the Nintendo brand controller. Personally, I think the bit of extra weight and the gloss makes this controller feel more premium, but it also tends to feel more slippery in the hand. Fortunately, the corners dig into your palms to hold it in place...guess there was no such thing as ergonomics back in 1985. Anyway, if you can get the Version 2 that actually works with the NES classic, it's a fine replacement for the stock controller and cheaper than buying the Nintendo brand when you add in the necessary $10 extension anyway. You could go wireless with the offerings from MyArcade, Nyko, or 8bitdo, but keep in mind that using the stock NES classic power supply might not work with two wireless dongles drawing power...in this case, you may need to swap out the power supply (rated at 1 amp) for something that puts out 2 amps. You won't have any such problem with wired controllers, though.

Slight lack of responsiveness with the DPad. Still the next best thing to OEM.
I was able to test this controller out after picking it up from a Walmart. Given the lack of good alternatives I would have to say this is the next best thing to the OEM Nintendo controller. Regardless of the turbo buttons the original layout of the controller is still unaffected (which is a big plus). All button press very similarly to the OEM controller with one noticeable difference. The DPad on the Edge Gamepad is slightly less responsive than the OEM controller and you'll only be able to notice this in a few games. The game that best shows this difference is Gradius. The OEM controller is much more responsive and can maneuver circles around the Edge Gamepad's DPad in this game specifically. Hope this helps you make your decision.

Nice NES a-like gamepad.
This is a nice solid NES a-like gamepad that will work with the Wii, as long as you get version 2.I was able to play virtual console games and emulators, through the Wii Homebrew Launcher, without any problems. I only tested on the official Wiimote. I don't have a NES Classic Edition to test it on. The controller feels really solid, although it's not quite as good as a real NES controller or an 8bitdo NES controller.I was not able to get it to work through the Mayflash DolphinBar, or the Mayflash Wii Classic Controller Adapter. This is disappointing, since I just purchased The Edge Joystick, and it works perfectly with both. I would probably take off an additional star if this were it's intended purpose.

Second best option for the NES Classic.
While the controller works incredibly well, and the added length of cable is welcome, the materials themself feel a bit... Cheap. The plastic is light, the buttons are too squishy, and the dpad feels slightly off. Now, other than those negatives, the controller is a surprisingly good attempt at a third party take on the NES Classic, and would honestly be the best bang for your buck (Official Controller + Extension Cable). If you are looking for a second controller and do not feel like forking over a ton of money, pick this controller up.

Looks cool. Wish it worked
It came broken. Keeps scrolling left and none of the buttons work. The code book looks like it's been used, but as a "free bonus" item I guess I can't really complain.
