Not a diet book!
I loved that Dr. Ovadia wrote this in a simple, understandable way. The advice is very practical. You can tell this book came from 'his heart', with a passion for doing the right thing by people. It's astonishing to realize some of the things I have heard and believed from some healthcare, government and business communities have been deceitful and purposefully misleading in favor of greed. This is not a diet book but rather a lifestyle book. I know I will never eat the same again. Thank you, Dr. Ovadia!

Live a Longer Healthier Life by Eating Properly
It's about time someone wrote a review in Amazon about Ovadiahearthealth.com and this book - "Stay Off My Operating Table".Dr Philip Ovadia's book entitled "Stay Off My Operating Table" is an eye opening, easy reading, understandable, and comprehensive look at why so many Americans are so overweight, and in poor health. We have (literally) been fed MISINFORMATION about a healthy diet to achieve good METABOLIC HEALTH by the pharmaceutical and agriculture industries with complicity by the Federal Government to back up all their false assertions.Read his book and understand the simple principles that will prevent disease rather than having to go get treatments after the fact (when in many cases), it's too late. Clear your mind of what you ‘think’ you know as healthy and read this!
Having tried so many diets over 5 decades and wanting to live out the last of my life the healthiest I can be, I bought this book on the title alone. Well, it resonated through every cell in my body! Dr Ovadia doesn’t bash you for dietary choices…he totally gets it himself! This isn’t an in depth study of metabolic syndrome nor does it spell out a good plan. But it explains how our eating choices have evolved from our ancestors to current dietary and medical practices, industry, etc., creating the obese world of people we are with so many health issues and why we got here…AND how to change it in your life. An easy and enjoyable read that’s judgement free and supportive! How I’d love to talk with him for just a few minutes!

Stay off my Operating table by Dr. Philip Ovadia
This book is a very good read, for lay persons & professionals ;Doctors,Nurses Etc. I’ve yo-yoed, for 40 plus years. After two full months today, started with Keto 5 1/2 weeks, than ketovore; now for 19 days carnivore. Also I’m a heart patient wit HFPEF; pacemaker; & Watchman …Afib etc. Saw Dr. Ovadia on YouTube & thought I have to get this book! It’s excellent!!!! Please read this book before you have what I have, but the good news I’m feeling great, exercising some now & lost 19lbs. So far. And don’t hurt much at all I have OA. I’m happier now too, what a bonus. There’s hope for You & Me!

Cholesterol
While I found the information in this book quite helpful. I was rather disappointed that it did not contain the latest data on cholesterol and statin use. Someone not familiar with this information may get the idea that statins are ok , that they will be helpful when the fact is they are more harmful. Otherwise, great book.

Great book on metabolic health
The book provides specific examples of how to eat metabolically healthy if you follow a certain diet (carnivore, keto, gluten free and vegetarian). I gained insights on how to track the state of your metabolism and what to do to improve it. Easy to read format. Wish more doctors did this!

Excellent How To Book
I ran across Dr. Ovadia on You-Tube by accident and ended up listening to a short video and became interested in what he had to say about metabolic health. I checked with my kids and asked their opinion which came back positive. I ordered the book and have even started buying extra copies for family and friends. This book is simple to read, to understand, and gives excellent guidelines to get you started if you decide to pursue his recommendations. This is a book focused on metabolic health, not dieting in the normal sense. While it does provide some excellent information regarding different diets, it is directed primarily toward living a healthy life by controlling what we eat. Weight loss is a side benefit.I am 78 years old, was 60 pounds overweight, and I can recommend it.

A medical Doctor with sense
Over the past few decades, I have watched as the people around me have gotten less healthy while diligently following a doctors advice on how to be healthy. I chose to follow my own path by eating whole foods, choosing to control carbs and sugar, and by continually keeping up with a common sense approach to actually BEING healthy. I have gotten mass amounts of negative feedback from friends and family. Our health is our own to protect. Dr. Ovadia has risen above the arrogant dogma of the medicine for profit industry to give us the truth about what it takes to be healthy, not just alive. Because I have been doing these things for decades, I find myself healthy, happy, and I've NEVER been on a pharmaceutical drug well into my 60's.My advice? READ THIS BOOK! The advice is priceless coming from an actual doctor who bucked the rigged system to find health for himself. Now, when people tell me I'm crazy for living low carb, carnivore and no sugar, I can refer them to a real doctor who will give them the facts they need to know to live life truly feeling wonderful, happy and grateful for being healthy.

Excellent insight. Easy to follow and implement.
I liked this book because it clearly sets out the background on how our diet is limiting our life expectancy when we believe we may already be eating healthily. I'm 55, active ( since 21 in gym or restiance training with bands, a good blood profile, but I have always been boarder line diabetic) This book can give you ideas and a vision on how you can improve your weight and health in an intelligent way with reasoned arguments from wherever you may currently find yourself healthwise. I have already started to take action using Dr Ovadia's book as a starting point.

Started strong but lost track fast …
Was a nice read until it got a bit uninspiring. What I mean by that is, that he could have gone much more detailed into his work related practical findings and evolve the story from there … why things are better and so on. First part was much better where he discussed the medical system and what’s that really all about … after that It felt a bit like a shallow story about his findings changing diet to carnivore and some obvious recommendations to care what u eat. I might have expected more due to the „real doctor“ attitude… and his appearance in keto-themed pods … for me that read was just a little disappointing… but got some helpful advice and encouragement out of it.
