Single Port PCI Express x1 RS232 Serial Adapter Card - PCIe RS232 Serial Host Controller to Single Serial DB9 Port

I received this product and wasn't quite sure what to make of the tiny plug-in edge card. Only when I realized that it could plug into any PCI express port, given the "notch" in the board lined up correctly, did I decide to give it a try. Bingo! This card works wonderfully and is used as a CAT (Computer Aided Tranceiver) control port for my Amateur Radio Tranceiver. There is no problem, my computer immediately recognized the RS232 PCI express card. This is a fine product for the cost and offers the additional RS232 serial port I required to match my radio with computer software. This is my second purchase from Best Connectivity and I would rate the product with Five (5) stars all the way!

This has worked well for us on windows 7 pro x64. We've only found one other comparable product that is 3x the price. We noticed there are two drivers for these pcie cards - one multifunction and one serial uart - we manually choose the uart driver during install and everything is happy. We use the low profile bracket - which is kind of a hassle to take off the full bracket off and install the low profile. It also seems a bit hard to fit into the slot - maybe something with the bracket itself - but it works after a bit of wriggling. Worth it for 1/3 the price of the competitor product.

Works well on Windows 7, but have not figured out how to use the "re-map function for legacy ports". Drivers are available on mini-CD and online, but I have not been able to find any other technical documentation.

I needed a serial port on my new computer to hook up my weather station, I had been using USB, but all the power saving features and other software oddities made the connection break every day or so. With the serial port I have had no problems and it has been running consistently for almost 2 years. This board installed easily in my PCI 1x slot and I was set, I recommend this for those that need serial connections on new computers.

This thing has poor compablity with old serial printers. This device may work with some old serial devices, but not with most legacy serial devices. Always buy a bussiness computer with a native serial port.

Windows 7 system recognized it immediately and I was able to load the correct driver from the supplied CD disk. The heading basically tells the story. Good size, right prize, works well and ease to install. Don't make it harder than it is....LOL

Place in PCIe 1x slot on your motherboard and load driver. Same price as an adapter cable.

I bought this card for its price, simplicity, "future-proof" PCI-e interface and the two reviews here. Problem is, once it's installed the PC (Dell Dimension 3100) will not boot - HD spins up but nothing else happens (at least for an hour or so). Powering down and pulling this card out lets the system boot properly. Updated BIOS to current rev with no change. There are no BIOS settings for enabling/disabling/modifying the PCI-e 1x slot. Though the directions say to put the card in and install the drivers when Windows looks for them, on a chance I installed the cards downloaded from the specified site - again with no change in the non-booting behaviour. No idea why it is preventing booting, but it's going back to Amazon and I'll be getting a plain old PCI rs232 card instead.

I was having trouble talking to a device over an old USB serial interface, and bought this to try to fix. I plugged it in, Windows 8/64 recognised it, it worked okay, and the device communication is now perfect. Can't ask for more.

Did not require drivers for windows 7. Easy to change port numbers. Works well. Great for my system which has limited slots and not many cards fit pci-express 1 slots.
