How well will this cut 29 gauge galvalume rib steel roof panel? i see the spec for 18 gauge metal

I cut 28 gauge steel with it with no problem 29 gauge is thiner yet ( smaller the # thicker the steel ).

Can the head be locked straight so that I can run it along a straight edge without it swiveling?

Yes, in order to unlock the head to swivel you must loosen the Allen nuts.

Will it work to take down the walls of an outdoor pool?

We cut commercial grade .040 metal, cut it no problem! Residential sheet metal capping in .019, I think an above ground pool falls in between that so I think your good!
