do you have to drill any holes for this install?

Drilling is required for some truck models without factory holes(see the installation manual under Product guides and documents of the webpage). This running board is installed on the rocker panel by mounting brackets, and the drilling is just for reinforcing the running boards to make them sturdy. Actually nothing negative can happen to your vehicle after the drilling according to our design, and they are verified reliable by sufficient tests and facts. Thanks.

Are the step pads plastic?

No. These steps are made of Aluminum. Thank you.

Why won't this fit 2006-2008 mega cab?

I installed them on my mega cab, that’s what I hss as be, but they don’t extend for the extra cab space. Still look good.
