Very good addition to any outdoors carry system.
This US Army military surplus waistpack is tough as nails, clean and waterproof (within limits), and after being in storage since 2008, as evidenced by the attached tag, has no odor or any visible wear of any kind. The waist belt was stashed away in the tunnel in the back surface as it should have been, and is likewise clean and as-new. I have been on the fence about this item for a while, but after re-reading the reviews on the seller and the item, made the buy and am more than satisfied. I will hand wash it, of course, as instructions state, and put this into use for every outdoor activity that requires a roomy and easy to wear carry system. This also would mount easily on my Alice pack (smaller version) for longer than day-trip events. Really, this is probably a must-have item for a relatively small price, thanks to Uncle Sam - so we better get them while they are still available in this kind of condition, folks.

Excellent for the price
For $10 you can't find anything better. I use it as my camping utility bag that holds all may cord, stakes, hardware, and bric a brac. The buckles are beefy. The zipper is as tough as they come. You can use it as a butt pack or modify it and use it as a satchel. I regret I don't have need for a second one, otherwise I'd buy one without second thoughts with no need to look elsewhere. I love this thing.UPDATE: I made up an excuse to buy a second one. That's how kickass and versatile this bag is. The first and third time I bought one (from different vendors), they were sold as "used" and were in very good shape. The one I bought *NEW* was the worst shape of all. See my warning below. All in all, you can't go wrong with the pack. Too bad I can't say the same about vendors--some are dirtier than others, no pun intended. [ok, maybe pun intended].WARNING: I bought a second one from McGuire Army Navy and it came stained with something on the inside. Clearly not NEW. Avoid this seller. It's underhanded to just repackage something someone returned USED and selling it as if new. Dirty trick. I returned it, bought a used one from another vendor, and that one is in better shape!

Good product
Product came as advertised. Appearance is correct. Would love to see this in coyote brown or desert USMC Marpat. Light weight. Performs as needed, but unknown for durability as mine is brand new.

Perfect to attach to MOLLE II Assault PAck
I purchased this item to attach to the bottom of my USGI Molle ii Assault Pack. As expected it attached with minimal effort and really completes the assault pack both by adding extra storage room and also adding some needed bottom protection to the main pack. When combined the two units (waist pack and assault pack) provide more than enough room to accommodate the standard BOB/GO bag list, or 2-3 day hiker. Being USGI issue means the they are high quality and can take a beating. My waist pack came brand new, in unissued condition. It can be worn alone or as mentioned attached to the assault pack or Molle ii rucksack. For the price it is a no-brainer to add some extra storage space to your existing ruck/pack. As my assault pack is ACU digital this was a prefect match. Consider picking up a Molle ii USGI assault pack and combine with this waist pack, you'll have a functional heavy duty pack that will last many years for half the price of say a Rush 5.11 24 bag (Rush makes premium bags, but expensive!).

So nice I thought it was fake!
Never seeing one of these packs in person means they were nearly never issued. As such when they changed pattern all of that stock went surplus unused.I received two absolutely new waist packs. Absolutely real, the buckles were made in Farmingdale, NY.

Solid, useful pack.
Very useful as a detachable pack on USGI rucksack. Holds up well in rain. It lets me take the bike on quick trips from a primary location where I don't need my full ruck, but still need to take spare tubes/tools, a t-shirt/hand towel, etc. Just had to repair a flat yesterday and glad I had it on me vs. bein' lazy and assuming I'd be ok for a quick trip of only a few miles. Besides spare tubes and tools, it's also good for things like lights and other detachable 'thief-friendly' attachments when leaving the bike locked somewhere. I can also attach this to the frame rack in the back, as it fits pretty well and the straps work well for this. This pack has a lot of uses.
