As you tighten, it lifts the other side out from the piece. I should have a screw on either side of the strip. I spaced mine every 5", with the LED resting on top of the bracket so if the adhesive fails on the strip, it shouldn't fall. Metal hanger straps would work better if they will never be touched/ seen.
