Beautiful scoring examples with terrific instructions
This is a terrific book. The scoring patterns are diverse and lovely, and the author has done a wonderful job of showing the process step by step. I also appreciate the loaf shaping demo photos, which have helped me improve the consistency of my shaping and therefore my end product. Highly recommend.

Excellent book - just watch for correction to main recipe!
The main recipe appears on pg 128 of the version I just received. The proportions seem wildly off - way too much water… I was amazed, and dreading trying to fold and shape this dough.But at the back of the book, there is an insert just inside the back cover… an errata or correction. Sure enough, it says the recipe on pg 128 has double the water - and it provides the correct recipe / proportions.I wish they’d put this correction insert into the FRONT of the book instead of the back! I think many people may miss it.But it’s a scoring book, not a baking book. The recipe and the other various tips are the writer’s description of how she gets her dough to the point of being able to do her amazing scoring design work. And not only is the scoring book fantastic - but all the tips are, too! Frankly, I’m going to recommend this book to beginners, because this writer does a very nice job of laying out the process, from starting a starter to storing a loaf in the freezer. I’ll just tell beginners to start at pg 118, then go back to the front when they’re ready to learn how to score artistically.I’m sure the discovery of the misprint on pg 128 was dismaying, as I can tell this writer cares. I’d suggest they put a notice in the Amazon description… but some buyers may be turned off - which would be a shame, because this is an excellent resource. Future prints will be cleared up, I’m sure - and I’ll treasure mine like a coin with a miscast character!But I do hope the publisher offers a spiral-bound version, some day - the better to be able to read the book on the counter while working in the kitchen.Cheers. I love this book. I admire the effort to explain and demystify sourdough bread making.

Bought this for my son who loves to bake sourdough bread. He found the decorations discussed in this book to be an invitation to merge art and bread.Pros:Color pictures with easy to understand picturesThe lay of information was well done making it easy to follow along even for a novice
