A recent abduction becomes an unexpected link to a decades-long spree of unspeakable crimes. Eight-year-old Brooklyn Mercer has gone missing. And as accustomed as FBI agents Eliza Sterling and Brandon Eddison are to such harrowing cases, this one has struck a nerve. It marks the anniversary of the disappearance of Eddison’s own little sister. Disturbing, too, is the girl’s resemblance to Eliza―so uncanny they could be mother and daughter. With Eddison’s unsettled past rising again with rage and pain, Eliza is determined to solve this case at any cost. But the closer she looks, the more reluctant she is to divulge to her increasingly shaken partner what she finds. Brooklyn isn’t the only girl of her exact description to go missing. She’s just the latest in a frightening pattern going back decades in cities throughout the entire country. In a race against time, Eliza’s determined to bring Brooklyn home and somehow find the link to the cold case that has haunted Eddison―and the entire Crimes Against Children team―since its inception. Wife enjoyed it.
Book 4 of The Collector series: The Vanishing Season This last book of the series didn’t disappoint!! You also have to be someone that enjoys going into a serial killers mind and see things through their eyes!! Not for everyone. The characters in all 4 books are portrayed so well that you end up feeling what they are going through! You end up feeling like you actually know the team. Also interesting that the books were written from different individuals perception. I would recommend reading the books in order.

My least favourite in the collector series
The vanishing season is the 4th and last book of the 'collector' series from Dot Hutchison. Each of the 4 books stars one of the 4 FBI agents, this one is about agent Eliza Sterling. Brooklyn, an 8 year old girl goes missing on her way home from school.. The girl disappears 21 years after Faith, Edissons little sister went missing as well. Brooklyn has a striking resemblance with Faith and Brooklyn, blond hair and blue eyes....This is my least favorite book in the series, the plot is disappointing and the number of suspects is very limited ...I was hoping there would be some sort of link with Eliza's striking resemblance with Faith....but no. Irina and Victoria-Bliss also make their "insignificant" appearance in this book (we never get to know what happens to the gardener or how the trial goes) Priya also appears in this book, which I find unnecessarely annoying ...The writing here is a little messy especially the dialogues are confusing. The ending is just mèh ....No big reveal or twist. My favourite books in the series are: the butterfly garden and summer children.

Dark Story
This is the 4th book in the series and this one left me in tears in some parts and so happy at the end. Thank you Dot Hutchison for leaving this on a happy note. I would of been devastated if it did not. I chose to read all 4 books one after another but let me tell you it left me emotionally exhausted. The author told these stories so well that each book held my attention from start to end. Fair warning if you have triggers please familiarize yourself with them before you start. I highly recommend all the books.
