A great guide for Photography basics
This is one of several "From Snapshots to Great Shots" books that I recommend. I enjoy the skillful mix of images and text that work well to support each other. This book not only covers the basics of exposure very well, but it goes on to elaborate on how to handle numerous challenging situations with exposure adjustments. Each chapter concludes with an assignment page. I have used this book as the basis for several workshops and found the assignments in each chapter work well to reinforce the material described in that chapter. If you want to learn how to control exposure this book is a great tool to set you down the path to being able to harness the true power of your DSLR.

OK, but contains information from other books by same publisher
I purchased this book along with the Nikon D7000 book from the same publisher. The information in this book is for the beginner photographers and is of average content adequate for that level. More advanced shooters (beginners too)will probably find Bryan Peterson's book Understanding Exposure more suitable. What I found disappointing was that there were numerous paragraphs in this book that were word-for-word from the Nikon D7000 book. Understandably, there are only so many ways to explain a subject, however the content is copied in its entirety. In college they called this plagiarism and the result would be expulsion. Each book was written by different authors, but both are from Peachpit Press. In either book, no credit is given to the other author.

Great book with a lot of good tips
I had recently read the companion Composition book on my Kindle, so when I saw the new Exposure book listed on Amazon I knew I had to have it.I went ahead and ordered the print version of the book and received it yesterday. Flipping through it I was really impressed with the quality of the photographs (both subject matter and also reproduction) in the book. I basically spot read through the book last evening and found a bunch of great tips.I'm planning on reading it cover-to-cover this weekend.BTW I think I'm going to buy a copy of the Composition book in printed version to have also.

Great book for beginner and amateur photographers
I started using my Sony a55 last December. It took me until reading this great book to really clarify the ideas behind "exposure", and what I need to prioritize when manipulating exposure modes. If I had read this book right in the beginning, I'm sure my learning curve would have shorten quite a bit.The author noted ISO, Aperture, Shutter Speed in each of the pictures and suggested when to do what. Also, it's written in an user-friendly language. Good work!

Even if your a Pro its gold tp keep as a guide! I highly recommend this book to who ever like photography. I saw it at a book store for 25 plus tax and got it here for only 15! Best buy!

Little or No Proofing
Although I find the information useful, I also found errors that conflict with what is being discussed.Example: Figure 1.3 the author talks about adjusting for over exposure but in his example, both images display the same settings - ISO 400, 1/1000th SS, f/4 on an 85mm lens.

Good read
I've read the book from cover to cover and really think that I've expanded my knowledge. I bought the previous edition and i may buy the second if there's a lot more in it.

From Snapshots to Great Shots'?
Quite informative. Like the ease on a iPad going back and forth between photographs for comparison and referencing text.Could have used more camera info - popular brands nikon, canon etc.overall very good .....

A bit of a let down to be honest!
It's all very well going on about exposure, but this book does not really help, as it's not written for a specific camera. E.G. It mentions the pop up flash on the D3100, and shows some of the menu screens also, for that particular camera. What good is this if you don't own one? The pics and illustrations are great, but it's almost a complete repeat of the D3100 snapshots to great shots book. After reading that book, i can honestly say, i've found this one to be a waste of time and money. But don't get me wrong, it's smart and well presented. I was atleast expecting it to be an addition to the knowledge i've already gained. To summarise, i would suggest the purchase of a book, that specifies your camera model in the title!

brilliant
Found this book to be so helpful. The way it is set out you can dip in and out when you need to know something from a particular chapter. I have another book by this author which is the book on the Nikon 5000, that has become like a bible to me, I have learnt so much from it. Looking for an easy to understand photography book this is for you.
