As seen on TV but here is the whole story
Holy smokes, I thought Bradly Morris Cunningham was scary (See Ann Rule's Dead by Sunset). Allen Blackthorne has him beat by a light year. Why are these men able to attract women when they are such malignant narcissists? Women really need to spend a lot more time with men before they have children with them, because they can only keep up the facade for so long. There's no way I am blaming the victim because so many women have no idea that men so evil exist. It's just easier to get out of a bad marriage if children aren't involved

True Crime
This was my first time reading an Ann Rule accounting of a true crime incident. The narrative seemed to be very detailed and hopefully accurate. It appears there are plenty of financial, employment and police reports to substantiate the timeline of events that occurred. Associates and participant statements are extensive adding the human element to this tragic obsession. The events that included the nosey Adlers made me wonder a bit as to who provided the details on what they actually did and reported to the murderer. The book is very interesting, flows at just the right speed to keep me reading, well written and held my attention until very end. True Crime TV shows, even the ones done on major networks often leave out what I would consider pertinent information regarding the investigation, however Ms Rule seems to cover all of the facts, surmises, deeds, consequences and results very well.I do intend to blend her books in with my other genres from time to time.

Excellent True Crime
Ann Rule's name is well-known to readers of true crime. She's one of the great authors in this genre. This book is made especially interesting because Sheila, the murder victim, had asked that her family request Ann to tell her story should she be murdered. Consequently, the family offered Ann a tremendous amount of information as a way to honor Sheila's wish. That made reading this book a richer than usual experience. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and recommend it.

I love Ann Rule
Sheila Bellush knew her murder was coming, it was just a matter of time when. So when Ann Rule heard that she had told her sister Kerry that if anything was to ever happen to her- to have Ann write her book. Ann took this very honorably and everyone saying she painted Sheila as like "doing no wrong" I do understand that. To be fair, Allen was a weirdo, psycho, creep. This book did have lots of characters- it was at times hard to keep track. A lot of detail but none the less I enjoyed this book and I can't wait to read her next one. I was really invested in this book. I wish I could look at more pics of Maureen - that bitch had issues.

Very well written account of a husband
Who turned his divorce from his third wife into a decade-long competition over who would "win" over assets, child support and visitation. He became a millionaire, remarried and had more children, but he could not leave well enough alone. His deep-seated need to cause misery lead to him hiring a friend to murder his ex-wife.He died in prison 14 years after his conviction of unreported causes at age 59.

Can Not Finish
I don't know. I usually really get into Ann Rule's books. Usually her book takes me into a reading marathon that means I will even read well into the wee hours of the morning. This one just drags. I will put it away for now and maybe revisit it later.

GREAT BOOK~~~
I am at the tale end of this book and even though I know what happened in the end, I still wanted to finish the book. This was very well written (Ann Rule is awesome) book and has a lot of detail. It is a shame that her life was so short due to a man who tried to control everything and everyone in his life. She didn't deserve what happened to her, nor did her loved ones.

Disturbing on so many levels
As usual, Ann Rule does an excellent job of investigative research to retell this horrifying story. She paints San Antonio beautifully and with the same fervor details the terrifying life that Sheila Bellush suffered through until her violent death. It was sickening to read all the horrors this man got away with throughout his life and even more disturbing that he managed to find such a loyal wife to stand by him during investigation and trials, living a life of luxury while so many suffered from his actiins. A haunting read for sure, and one that was difficult to put down until finished.

interesting and well detailed true crime
I love Ann Rule's books. however they are in such detail and presumably you would have to have an interest in the case to be able to read it right through. I saw this story on a true crime programme and it peaked my interest.
