Too sweet but tasty

I am British - but lived abroad for a few years and got used to having Malaysian / indonesian Nasi Goreng for breakfast. I can now make this at home using this spicy taste. I have tried other brands, but some taste too salty and some too fishy. This is fiercely spicy and perfect for me and i buy it regularly. It is safely delivered packaged in a very robust bubble wrap .

Delicious sauce

I bought this so I could make an Oriental/Indonesian stir fried prawn dish my wife ate in London. This paste kicks a punch but saves a lot of preparing and sourcing the many ingredients needed. Very authentic and true to the dish she enjoyed previously. One minor gripe is that postage costs are almost the same as the cost of the product itself!

Firstly, this is a quality product. Had it with coconut rice, ikan bilis etc. The price here is excessive. Chinese supermarket price is under £3.00. Exhorbitant.

This is the stuff we find in my childhood banana leaf wrapped Nasi Lemak. Right amount of heat (very minimal) balanced with sweetness and saltiness. Other brands don't have that sweetness balanced.

Staring at bowl of fried anchovies and peanut my daughter said AH SAMBAL! So ordered from Amazon straight and it arrive next morning, AMAZING Love Amazon Delivery. Purchased Tean over Chiliz which I had previously tried and like because this is better value. However it just taste very spicy and lack texture or flavor. We can take the heat but it seems to lack that fragrance of chili and other ingredients. It is just a sharp burning sensation. It is still ok , save the hassle of cooking from scratch, I just still prefer Chiliz . Find that some of Tean's product seems to have lost the sense of flavor as it just up its heat scale. The same with its chicken curry paste which we've used for years and recommended to all .. still haven't found a good replacement.

If you want a Sambal that is flavour packed, full of fresh chilli and a good hit of Belachan then this is for you. The fresh chilli really pops in this jar, spicier than any other off the shelf sambal I've tried, a very gentle sweetness and a nice base of belachan coming through later in the profile. It is blended into a pretty fine thick sauce consistency. It's well balanced and leans towards fresh chilli spicy rather than the umami flavour bomb belachan side of the Sambal world. I paired this with the Knorrs Thai Sweet Chilli Jam (920 gram), mixed it about 60 % Jam / 40% Nasi Lemak Sambal and was thrilled with the flavour together. I'll be Amazon subscribing to both condiments for the foreseeable future. Really Really good!
