The Art of iPhone Photography: Creating Great Photos and Art on Your iPhone

A GREAT BOOK!
My interest in creating artwork in my iPhone predates this book by many years, but during that time I've searched for books that could offer me the step-by-step instructions for images created by the artists who do this as I do (because they love it, want to share it, and enjoy the responses from social media or with actual sales). While I was aware of a portion of the information in this book, I gained a huge wealth of knowledge of apps I had known nothing of, steps I've worked around (but now have a grasp of) and seen things that inspired me. The way it's planned out, the information is highly accessible, and for new iPhone artists is remarkably well-documented so that a newbie can pick up a process with little difficulty, if any!I want to encourage the authors to put out an annual edition with new apps, artists, and methods for newbies as well as we seasoned artists. I've taught high school digital arts for 15 years and am using this book as a text to encourage students to create outside of the classroom, so new editions would be very helpful! If could make a wish list of what to put in the next edition (she said hopefully), I'd want a section of iPhoneography/art alone for inspiration, a gallery of sorts of artist's works that haven't been explained step-by-step, and include lots of pre-processing info for Photoshop or other computer-only programs/add-ons/actions that might not be included in the in-phone processes.A GREAT BOOK!

I am mixed on my opinion of this book. I've gotten several good ideas from the many photographers who are writing about their work and giving you the information step by step on how they achieved their results. At the beginning of each section, they show you the photograph they are going to discuss and then give you the apps that they used to get the results. I always go to the app store to get the app so that I can follow along ....... and have found that many of the apps have terrible reviews, not just one bad review, but in many cases, all of them are bad. Some of the apps have been discontinued and some of them are no longer supported. It's just very frustrating to pay the price I paid for this book and then find that I can't achieve their results due to the app situation. I do realize that the fault there doesn't fall on the photographers themselves, but on the app creator and the fact that the book's copyright date is 2013. That being the case, the book (book author) should be updated or the price should be lowered. This is a very costly book to have this much out of date information in it.

Fabulous helpful book
I liked this book so much that I returned my Kindle version and ordered a book book so I could flip pages, turn down pages, ponder, savor, try out, underline, make notes, etc. This is the perfect book for learning how to work with your photographs on the iPhone. Other books are very helpful and worth having, i.e. Dan Burkholder, but they only tell you about how that person works with apps. This book tells you how MANY photographers work on their photographs. The photos cover a wide range. To me, some are brilliant and some just good and interesting, but the instructions are detailed and, sometimes, the photographer gives you instructions on using a particular app, not just how it was used in the photo but how to use it generally. This is definitely the best book out on how to work with the iPhone (and I didn't get a review copy) and I have several other books.

A+ book highly recommended!!
If you're a professional photographer, iphoneographer, or if you're just getting interested in iPhone photography and art then this book should be your #1 starting point!! I have bought and read several iphoneography books, and can easily say this book has been my favorite! And the one I learned the most from! Really fueled me to get out there and take pictures and then try out these amazing apps mentioned in the book. It's top quality printing and top quality reading. You will not be disappointed! Get this book for yourself, and for any friends or family you have that are interested in iPhone photography. This book covers taking the pictures and apping the pictures after they're taken. It's a complete learning experience!! Great job Bob and Nikki!! I'm really hoping for a 2nd edition!!

Excellent read
This is THE book to have if you are interested in becoming more adept at iphoneography. The context is clear, the images are great! I enjoy looking through it and trying to capture in my mind what the artist was thinking while composing the shot and it is so enlightening reading how the final image was obtained. Recommend for all inspiring and seasoned iphoneographers!

Highly recommended
This is an amazing book for anyone interested in pursuing their artistic side with an iPhone. There are over 300 pages filled with tutorials, stories, and just incredible artwork all created with an iPhone. It is a solid book that lays flat while you are reading which creates much better hands on learning experience with the iPhone in your hands. Highly recommended

Don't get too excited
I thought that the pictures and tutorials could have been a lot better ie...have seen better work.I thought a lot of the tutorials were too complex..I might change my mind later..but right now the book did not grab my interest so i was disappointed.I would buy the book anyway. Who knows i might change my mind down the road.

Not what I thought it was going to be
I was hoping (and expecting) a book on how to use my iPhone to well-composed, artistic photographs with the built-in iPhone camera I should have looked at the content more carefully, so the mismatch between what I wanted and what I got is probably my fault! What this book actually is is a large number of tutorials on how to work up "arty" photographs (collages, multiple images, and so on) on your iPhone using a large number of third party apps. Now why anyone would want to do all the fiddly work on an iPhone when you could just export it to your Mac and work in Photoshop is a complete mystery to me. However, if that's what you want, this book will be perfect for you.Having said all that, the Kindle version seems overpriced.

If you are looking for great artistic inspiration then this might be for you - but if you are looking for something more detailed and instructional you may be disappointed - note this is quite an old publication so don't expect any guidance or details on using the latest iPhone 7 and iOS 10.3 enhancements - the book really needs updating
