Small Jaws
Jaws open much smaller than standard 250 Cobra. Extremely disappointing.

The chrome and regular finish insulated VDE models only have one rail for the pivot to travel on.
Received this as a present. Handles are the comfortable VDE style, I wanted the chrome for a little more rust proofing. I have several different Knipex' pliers and study them up close. Both VDE models have only the left rail for the replaceable pivot to travel on. I know the purpose is to allow adjustment using only one handle without the use of the pivot button to tighten up on the fastener. However, that one rail has to do all the work and strain. Even with it locked with the button out I had it jump a couple of times while doing it repeatedly.. My 4 inch micro Cobra did the same and was sent back because of it and the fact it was nearly small enough for a key chain . This VDE I am going to keep because I need an insulated Cobra. I don’t think it will have the longevity of the two rail uninsulated models,, especially if used in the trades. It is more a specialty use plier.. . Update: II think the chrome makes the rail a little more slippery for the pivot than the flat finish. I also think being insulated Knipex wanted you to grab a fastener with your hand only in the insulated handle and not use your thumb to lock the pivot button. Just in case the fastener is energized they don’t want current going across your thumb. Again double check power is always off.
