FANTASTIC!!! :D
Let's be frank: I'm a Medjool date connoisseur. I've tried many, many brands, always with the same complaints--bugs, mold, or dry and not fresh. (Yes, yes, I've heard the argument that if dates have bugs it's a good sign because it means they probably have less pesticides. But, personally, I'd rather have some chemicals and zero bugs, because worms in my dates makes me nauseous.) Despite all this, with Sarah and Anna I can say I've finally found the date I've been looking for!! ;) Of the four 5 lb. bags of Sarah and Anna Medjool Dates I've purchased (and consumed) so far (I told you I was a connoisseur), there has been ONLY ONE bad date!! Compare that to the 1 bad date:4 good date ratio of most other brands. Not only this remarkable feat, but the dates are always fresh and moist, full of flavor and wonderful texture just like a Medjool date should be!The price of these dates is also competitive with other major brands, but with the much superior quality you're getting way more of your money's worth. The only downside is that the 5 lb. size is a large bag (resealable, so another plus!), and the dates at the bottom sometimes get a bit smooshed (but they still taste great, so nothing really to complain about!).If you want an amazing Medjool date experience, BUY THESE!! I really cannot get over them--they do not sponsor me but I wish they would!

Good, sweet Medjools
Being from a culture that eats dates like water, it is hard to find good dates here in the states. These are not the worlds't best dates like the ones in the Middle East. But these dates are close to one of the best batch of good quality dates one can find. They taste delicious, and are big. This is how Medjool dates should be. I like that they are grown and packaged here in the USA instead of Israel where other dates are from. I wanted to support by buying a good but decent priced pack. Some of the reviews say the dates came with discoloration or other discrepancies. But to explain for people who don't eat dates that much, natural dates will have crystallization and because of the amount of sugar in a date (natural good-for-you sugar) the date skin might have these discolorations, crystals or white "color" specks. If you look at the pictures, that is exactly how they arrived. They arrived on time and although they didn't look the best, it is normal for them to have been squished in delivery. They do have pits but the size of the pits are smaller than the actual date, so you wont necessarily bite down on it, unless you bite down hard. They are very, very sweet and I have had 6 or 7 in one sitting with tea. But then again, if you don't come from a background where you eat dates or can only stomach a few, then you might eat a few pieces. However, I ordered one or two other batches of Medjool dates from other companies and they were just way too sweet and made me feel sick. So, just dont get fooled by dates that look picturesque. Because natural dates grown in Middle Eastern/ Arab countries do not look like they were photo-shopped. May 2017I wanted to chime in about some reviews finding black mold (the actual substance name) in some of the dates. This, while naturally happens to some dates, is actually a mold. So the date should be thrown out. It happens because of too much moisture in the dates. Some bags don't have any...and others, apparently do. Which is why some reviews like mine were luckily good bags and good reviews and others, unfortunately not so much so. So, to avoid being alarmed, I wanted to just give a suggestion to cut the date open before you eat it (if that makes you feel better) to avoid eating any possibly fuzzy black mold. While it sounds crazy to have to worry about rotten mold in your food, I have to remind you that this is normal in anything you eat. Food or organic food for that matter, will always have the possibility of growing fungus etc. And to be fair, yes the company should look at their batches and be more observant, but I have had dates from other reputable places that also (when packaged) had one or two moldy dates I bit into. Once I was pregnant. Didn't do any harm. It won't kill you necessarily but it is mold. So, yes, you DON'T want to eat that.Just keep in mind,It is a common occurrence in dates so it isn't very alarming to some of us. Gross, yes. Throw it out, yes. But not panic-worthy. Even whole foods quality dates have potential to have this issue. Especially when companies dont use preservatives to prevent this sort of stuff.I suggest if you WANT to buy this brand, then go ahead and order the 1 lb bag. I did that and figured the large amount of dates in the larger packs might be more prone to "the possibility" of black mold since they are packaged differently and hence, more moisture which leads to this horrid discovery. And secondly, should you find any bad dates (no pun intended)...just trash them. Tell Amazon afterwards. Usually they will give you a partial refund, or a discount or at the very least, keep knowledge and if many complaints are given, they will remove the product. This is why I shop at Amazon and why I write reviews and update like this one. Because sometimes a product is good but it can't always be perfect.May you all find good dates.*My original review stays the same as I had one of the good bags.

FAR SURPASSES ANY I'VE GOTTEN FROM A HEALTHFOOD STORE!!!!! WOW!! SO GLAD I ORDERED THEM!
I just got my 5lb bag of MEDJOOL DATES that I ordered 1/4/23. After reading the MANY reviews about the freshness, taste, & texture about these dates, I decided to order the 5lb bag, hoping it would be just like the many described. When I got my order just moments ago (1/6/23), I couldn't wait to open the bag & taste one. OH MY GOODNESS!! I WAS SO PLEASANTLY SURPRISED!! They are soft, moist, sweet...PERFECT!! I was so excited that I felt like doing a dance in the middle of my kitchen!! They SURPASS any that I have bought over the past years at Trader Joe's!! Thank you Anna & Sarah for making these AWESOME MEDJOOL DATES available through Amazon, not to mention, so affordable too, as it's becoming more & more difficult to find things in the stores since the CO*VID mess started which brought about drastic changes everywhere, especially in grocery stores i.e. items once ALWAYS available...no longer so!! Now we pay the SAME PRICE, but for 1/2 the quantity for many food items. Also, the price of food has been rising so high! NOTE: I'm in S. Calif. where it was already expensive before CV hit.I WAS SO IMPRESSED with my first bite that I just ordered another 5lb bag!! I'm currently seeking employment, but I will definitely tell others about these whenever the opportunity presents itself!!

Soft and Sweet, So Good
Most of the dates I have tried are dry but not crunchy, firm to the tooth. They are good for dicing for baking. I prefer to eat dates alone or in my snack mix. These dates are just the best! They are moist, soft, not chewey, and awesome to eat either alone or in my snack mix. They come pitted or non-pitted.

The best dates we can find!
These are plump, sweet, high quality dates! I eat them on their own for a tasty, energizing snack or cut a couple up to sweeten my oatmeal or Smoothies. Other dates I have bought locally are too dry, but these are almost like caramel candy! We receive a bag monthly with subscribe and save.

Not as good as previously purchased. Big disappointment.
I purchase frequently and love products from this company. The dates I purchased this time were very dry, very wrinkled, hard and tasteless -this applies to majority of dates; not just a couple. Hopefully this was just a one off or one time thing. Will purchase again bc these dates are usually very good quality.

Always ready to eat
These dates are excellent. I refrigerate them after opening and they stay fresh without over-drying. I mince them to add to cooked oatmeal. I add 4 or 5 to my chocolate smoothies that are made with unsweetened cocoa powder. Also add them to berry and fruit smoothies for a little sweetness. and I like them wrapped around pieces of any kind of walnut.
