I was introduced to Leonard Cohen's work very recently through Alexandra Burke's Hallelujah and realised that the lyrics had far more depth and subtlety than most 'pop' songs. I wish I had 'discovered' him earlier. This book is packed full of his poems and lyrics. As he avoids cliches and the obvious, you have to work at the layers of meaning (as with most good modern poetry), but the reward is well worth the effort.

Well we all onow the Canadian Poet should be part of high school and university curriculum. It’s a classic. He is the guru of relationships with a very rye and sometimes sharp tongue as he skilfully threats the union between two souls. Brian

Best collection of calling Cohen's work. A must have for any fan of Leonard Cohen. I have two copies: one dog eared, coffee stained and extremely well thumbed through. The other on a living room table with other books that are mainstays in my life ..
