Excellent Carving Board for the Price
Considering the price, this is an excellent carving board — boards from specialty sites can cost four or five times as much. I have a large cutting board that I use for prep (chopping veggies, meat, etc.), and I bought this board to supplement it. I intend to use it only for carving cooked meats and poultry, as the groove will capture the delicious juices and prevent them from running all over my counter. (Unlike this board, my other board does not have a juice groove, nor would I want a groove on a board used mainly for chopping veggies, etc.). The quality of the Boos board is very high. It's made of solid kiln-dried edge grain rock maple, an ideal wood for carving boards. (End grain would be a better choice for a board that will be used for chopping as it is easier on knife edges, but for slicing and carving it doesn't make much difference.) The Boos board is also quite substantial and very well constructed, in my opinion, and I have to question claims that it is prone to splitting. I suspect that many of those complaints are due to damage in shipping or to improper care of the board (e.g., putting it in the dishwasher or letting it soak in the sink). Wash it quickly after use with a mild detergent, rinse it well, dry it thoroughly, oil it from time to time with food-grade mineral oil, and it should last for years.

Beautiful, quality cutting board
Beautiful heavy duty cutting board! Bought this for myself for Christmas and it didn't dissapoint. Also bought the mystery oil which I used on several other wood boards/utensils and it revived them nicely.

Cutting board perfection.
This was a gift for my daughter in law. She was thrilled with it. Said it was exactly what she had been looking for. So, from her perspective it’s perfect. It’s heavy with a drainage ditch around it. Very nice 👍.

The best cutting board worth ever dollar
Perfect for cutting meat and it’s beautiful . I have several John Boos cutting boards and have purchased several as gifts. Some I have had for many years and with daily use it’s still great. Just make sure to properly oil it and will last for ever

Love Boos but block is splitting
I am sorry to say that this block has been used rarely over the course of the last year and it is splitting on the sides. It was purchased as a meat off the grill board to place on table but can no longer be used as the splits leak liquid. Very sad about this. The other larger block we have is used frequently and has not experienced the same splitting. We have used mystery oil and care for it with love. Maybe we got a bad one?

This product will split soon after the date you could return it.
I’ve had a small and a large cutting board for over 15 years that were incredible that I passed down to my daughter - not sure of the brand. But they finished their life with me in perfect condition. I bought two John Boos cutting boards at the end of November and the first week of January you could see a split in the small cutting board and in about another week, you could see three separations in the large cutting board. These boards were properly cared for, hand washed, and tilted to dry so they never had any water pooled on them or around them yet they split. Very disappointing as these products were supposed to be reputable and certainly were not cheap. Because it’s outside the 30 day window they are not returnable. I’ve since noticed a few reviews with the same issue… I wish I would’ve seen these earlier. DO NOT BUY this product unless you enjoy buying an a good looking cutting board that will quickly become expensive firewood.

Cutting block for the kitchen
I have been using this cutting block daily for over a year and it is sturdy - well made and looks really good in the kitchen. Now I know why so many chefs use this brand on TV - well worth the investment.

Came in perfect condition. Time will tell if it remains stable or warps/cracks. Giving it through oiling and board cream.

Even after taking care of it, the cutting board started splitting and deforming. Hand washed every time I used it and applied oil often and yet it's still not in good condition. Not worth the price, and the amount of hassle to maintain the cutting board just to have it break on you is upsetting. I
