Great can opener
I bought this product to replace an old can opener. The product is a little difficult to figure out how to use at first if you have never used one before and it does not come with instructions. It also takes quite a bit of force in order to turn the knob to open the can which makes it hard for my wife to use. However it works well and I love that it opens the can without having a sharp edge. It is also light weight and fairly small so it does not take up a lot of drawer space in the kitchen. When using the product it does not clamp into the can like an older style can opener rather it pinches onto the side and cuts without a sharp edge. Sometimes it doesn't look like it had done anything either but you just need to lift the top off. I would definitely recommend this as a quality and affordable can opener.

Ooh so fancy, however....
Maybe it's me, maybe it's the nuclear fallout proof cans I'm trying to open, but I've had a to go around the cans several times I order to get it to open. It doesn't seem to cut everything at once, it leaves spots where it's not been cut. I like the idea of it. When I first got it, it opened my can perfectly. Seems like after that, I've had troubles. The German half of me wants this to work efficiently, the Pacific Islander (Samoan) side of me, wants to use it like a club to bash open my damn can of Spam! Like I said, before, there's a good chance this is operator error. I wouldn't be surprised if I was completely using it wrong. (Happened before, with other kitchen items. A meat mallet, shouldn't look like a hammer if it's not supposed to be used like one!) Maybe I've finally drank to the point of damaging my motor skills, and or, simple comprehension. Either way, I still like it, and I'm still gonna fumble with it, until it breaks! (In my best Hulk voice)!!!!! SAMOAN SMASH!!!

Removes lids smoothly
There's a learning curve with this, but a small one, to get the opener seated right. Once you adjust from using a conventional can opener, which cuts the lid, to this, which breaks the seal between the lid and the wall of the can, you won't want to go back. This is much safer. The only down side to this design is the small opening into the inner workings - while it normally doesn't happen, stuff can get into this and then it would be difficult to clean out.

Mixed review but very disappointed
First this is a great can opener because it cuts clean and does not touch the food. Getting used to how it worked was really easy. It also seems durable. These are all excellent things deserving a 5 star rating. However, I bought this can opener because it was advertised as"easy...to turn." Some reviews said it was senior friendly. This is not my take. This can opener will cut smooth and turn easy if you really crank on the handle and put a considerable amount of pressure on it to make it turn. My mother does not have the strength in her wrist to use this can opener. I am very disappointed.

Love it and Needed it
I have an under the counter magic chef jar lid opener that I love but it doesn't work for a lid that is not flush. Example, I have the hard time getting the lid off my portable dehumidifier I have in my bedroom as it has the valve as part of the lid and not flush. To make matters worse it creates a vacuum in the water dispenser when it runs out of water. This little tool saves the day when my under counter one won't work. The molded rubber gives you a good grip on it.

Looks can be Deceiving
It looked good out of the box, and for the FIRST 14 CANS, It preformed wonderfully, Then on the next can " A Reg. 303 ", can of beans, it started to Skip, forcing the continued running for more than 3 rounds, before It would open.I'm not angry, and NO I didn't contact the dealer, it's not their fault that CHEAP, MILD-STEEL, WAS USED FOR THE TOOTH DISK on the opener, the simple Fix would be to Grind those," Gear Teeth Deeper, "THUS, THE 3-STAR rating.

Worked fine for a few months, then wore out
The first few months were great, and it worked as advertised. Then out of nowhere it started slipping, failing to cut deeply enough to penetrate the lid. I would have to go around the same can sometimes 20 times before enough of the lid was cut that I could wedge a spoon in there and pry it back. I kept it in my junk drawer for the last 4 years for whatever reason, and just threw it out today and decided to come dig it out of my order history to review it.

Very pleased!
Easy to use, quick and painless! Perfect every time. Hint: If you're not sure whether you have separated the lid, you should feel a slight release when you get all the way around; otherwise, the lid and can will twist separately so you know for sure you're done. I have tried other can openers and this one is the best. I like that you don't have to use handle "jaws" to clamp down on the can. It is just the one piece. Slap it on and start turning!
