Lodge Enameled Cast Iron Dutch Oven, 6 Qt, Poppy

I've never owned a dutch oven before and I've used this one once before writing my review. I cooked chicken and it came out with a nice light brown coloring and juicy. The color is nice, it appears to be heavy and well made. I read about others before purchasing this one and was concerned the lid wouldn't be a sealed tight fit as others were advertising. It doesn't appear to be airtight, just a heavy iron lid that fits very well which is to be expected; and this product was at a better price. I'll update if there are any issues with the product or chipping of enamel.

The first one I ordered came with a tiny chip in the enamel, inside the pot. So, I had to return it, very annoying since I live in the middle of nowhere and I couldn't just toss it in a ups drop box. When it was all said and done and I finally had my perfect condition purple Dutch oven, I couldn't be more happy with it! My kitchen is painted light purple, I have a few purple accessories and cookware. I was really looking forward to adding this beautiful Dutch oven to my growing collection of Lodge cast iron cookware! Especially since purple cookware is hard to find and this is The only one Lodge offers in purple! Step it up Lodge!! I need more purple! The price dropped the month before my birthday (today is actually my birthday!) and I couldn't wait any longer, I had to have it, happy birthday to me!First thing I made was a Sheppard s Pie, then a pot of my loaded baked beans. It cooks WONDERFULLY! Both times I've cooked in it I made a LOT of food, but didn't even fill the pot half way, I can't wait to make a big pot of chicken and dumplins, stew, chili!! Come on winter! I'm ready!

I purchased this 6 quart Lodge dutch oven, and used it to make a large stew on the same day it arrived. It heated smoothly and evenly. I use a lower heat setting on my glass-top range (never use high heat with cast iron - slow is best. Once it warms up, it stays hot). Cleanup was fast and easy. Remember to use non-metallic utensils to avoid scratching the enamel. I love the bright green color. I also have some LeCreuset pieces, and this Lodge product is equal in quality, in my opinion, for a fraction of the price. Cast Iron is heavy, so don't expect a cheap lightweight pot. This one feels so solid, and the rounded shape is perfect for all types of cooking. I have used Lodge cast iron products for many years, including camping over open fires with dutch ovens. This is my first Lodge enameled stockpot. I was so impressed with this one, that I ordered a second one to keep as an additional backup. The price is amazing, especially with free amazon shipping. I have checked department stores and online catalogs, and you cannot approach the quality of this item for twice its price. There is nothing cheap about this Lodge stockpot. It is well-made and I fully expect it to outlive me. I am happy to lend my full recommendation to this product. Take care of it and this piece should last for a very long time. It is beautiful, versatile, strong, and functional. I absolutely love it.
