MAC AT HIS BEST
i didn't really appreciate Mac Gollehon until I heard this album. He can sneak up on you in subtle ways. In my opinion this is his finest album so far. There are no free rides among this outstanding cast of supporting musicians.Ron Cuber on baratone sax,John Hicks on piano,Ron McClure on bass, Victor Jones on drums and special guest Jeff Golub on guitar who plays on half the tunes.Ron Cubar may be the best baratone sax player around, he has really developed. All the tunes have excitement and depth, and of course Mac provides the fire in his high note playing to make this an outstanding and exciting album. The more you play it, the more you appreciate it.Not the usual Dullsville Jazz albums, so readily available.
