I use this adapter on a Macbook Air running MacOS Sierra, which recognizes this adapter without any hiccups.The adaptor is compatible with 10 Mbps and 100 Mbps, but unfortunately it is not a gigabit adapter. With this adapter, my download speed is limited to just under 8 Mbps on my internet connection which is capable of going up to 12 Mbps without this adapter. I am not going to return this because it isn't that expensive, but I definitely will look for a gigabit adapter.The only issues I have with this adapter are the USB 3.0 ports. I connected my wireless mouse's wireless receiver to this ethernet adapter's USB port and the mouse movement became noticeably jerky and unpredictable. Sometimes the pointer would jump from one section of the screen to a totally different part of the screen without showing any movement in between. The USB ports however work well with my USB 3.0 drives.The adapter becomes quite warm to the touch especially if I leave a flash drive plugged in. The aluminum cover gets up to 100 degrees F when the ambient temperature is 70 degrees F. One advantage of the aluminum jacket is that it helps to conduct away and dissipate the heat. I also point the USB ports upward to help the heat escape from the interior of the adapter. The heat doesn't seem to affect the ethernet connection at all.

Unit is compact, very light, and well made.Seriously an amazing product for $17. I honestly thought it was going to be a bust, being that Best Buy has a usb port expanded for $25. So being $10 cheaper, way better looking and an all around better product, I am extremely satisfied with this product. I am ordering another one as I type this. I have so many Razer products, a webcam, an elgato, and a mic that all needs usb and this product even matches my theme. Let me inform you all my usb ports are plugged in and running at the same time and this thing still works like a charm. Can't believe I'm this hype over a usb expanded but damn does it work well.Usability: plug in, and stuff just workPhysical appearance and handling: - clean lines, refined look, solid feel - looks and feels more expensive than the $25 I paid for it. Everything works flawlessly.

I have a HP Spectre 360 running Windows 10 Professional that I wanted to use this device for and it gave me error code 10, which indicates more than likely a device powering issue. The color was great, but even if it had worked I probably would have returned it. The design of the ports was such that it would have no been conducive to plugging in multiple devices, especially while trying to utilize the ethernet port.

THIS IS AN UPDATE: I have had this item since May 2017. It already has one of the USB’s not working and a second one is hit and miss if it works. So disappointed, got to see if I can get a replacement or refund. UGH !

Very good product. I used to get a plastic USB Hub, but that plastic USB hub was loosely to connect with my monitors after using about 10 times. That's why I get this one. This Aluminum one is very different, it's tight to connect with my monitors. There is no problem to browse internet. It's working fine as what I expected. Plus it looks very nice. Small and light, and it works really well. I use it with my Surface Pro 3. Now I can use my mouse and transfer photos, etc. at the same time. It is a good hub with a good price.
