Ball-point needles ensure more even stitches on coarse and medium knits and wont damage spandex, interlocks and other knits that stretch and give. The shank of the needle secured by the needle clamp screw is slightly smaller than universal needles. This brings the f in the needle, just above the eye, slightly closer to the sewing machine hook point, thus, helping to eliminate skipped stitches.
