Extremely Disappointed in Longevity
I bought the 800 series convection microwave with trim kit because Bosch is supposed to be a well built brand and when remodeling my kitchen, I purchased all Bosch appliances. I replaced a 17 year old GE convection microwave that was still working perfectly. Now after 4 years, the Bosch stopped working. The magnetron has failed and the parts and labor to repair is nearly the cost of a new microwave (nearly $600). Very disappointed in the lack of quality and cost to repair in what I believed to be an upgraded brand and product from the original builder appliance package I replaced that was still working after 17 years. I should have stuck with GE. After this recent failure, I have read many other reviews that other parties have had with the Magnetron failing. Seems to be a common problem with at least the Bosch 800 series. Common enough that Bosch would publish my review on their own website because it 'doesn't meet their website guidelines'. Too many bad reviews already I guess and they didn't want one more.

Currently not a great experience, let’s see if it improves with repair
Mine came damaged after waiting 2 weeks for delivery. We ordered another one through a different vendor and it lasted a month before it stopped heating. We attempted to use the convection oven but after 20 minutes it still had not preheated to 375 and the inside by the heater darkened. The repair man is coming today. Customer service has been great. I am just hoping I had a bad unit and it will be fine after that...

Good microwave; convection mode is worthless
This is a solid, nice-looking microwave with options to hide the LED clock and to silence sounds, which are important to me. As with all microwaves that feature convection ovens, that feature is worthless. They take forever to heat up in convection mode and if you have to open the door to check the food all the heat escapes. I tried it once to experiment and realized this would never replace a toaster oven. (I have the Wolf countertop convection oven for small convection jobs, and it is awesome.) I did find the stainless panels on the Bosch door dent (and scratch) easily and I've already replaced the microwave, after a year, because it was a little banged up and I had all new appliances after a recent renovation so I didn't want to look at the dents on the MW even though it was fairly new. I'll have to try to be more careful with it. Somehow the side of the glass door, near the handle, also got a small crack in it. No idea how that happened, and it didn't affect functionality. The Bosch MW is German designed but made in China. The Wolf oven is also made in China, but it's a whole different level of engineering. Unfortunately, Wolf and Miele don't make an over-the-range microwave. I think the Bosch is the best out there, unless you like the Jenn-Air (too deep for me) or you want to spend a lot more for a Viking, which, when I looked at it, seemed pretty cheap and plastic-y and Viking in general has a spotty reputation for reliability. (By the way, Bosch rejected this same review on their own website; I guess they don't like honest feedback.)

Annoying sound as microwave starts
Excellent product that we are enjoying. It does start the microwave process with an annoying sound that my wife is not normal, I think it is just an alert last for several seconds to alert everyone in the house that the microwave is on.
