I needed a strong set of hinges for a somewhat heavy gate (55lbs), that was going to be used very often. I just installed these hinges yesterday and while it wasn't a "plug-and-play" install, it was worth the little bit of extra work. The adjustability of these hinges makes up for any discrepancy in level/square in your fence, which in the long run helped in the overall installation process. They are super sturdy, versatile, look great and two days in, work fantastically.

When installed with good hardware these are fantastic hinges. The springs even close my 8 foot wide gate...before I installed a spring loaded support wheel anyway. No noticable sag either on this heavy gate, none whatsoever on my 4 foot wide gate. Easily adjustable to get the closure gap correct and gates level too. I do have two complaints: First the included screws are garbage for use in wood. I used 1/4" heavy duty wood screws. The existing holes in the hinge brackets are just large enough. On my gates I used 6mm diameter bolts all the way through the gates with thick fender washers on the backside. Again, the holes in the hinge plates were just large enough. I wouldn't trust the gates to stay put with the existing screws. Second, the plastic trim covers that go over the hinges have weak tabs. I have broken tabs on two covers from when I went to install them. I'm going to contact the manufacturer about this. They shouldn't have broken like that, I didn't apply any force to them. UPDATE: 5 years later and these hinges are still great! I have updated my review from 4 to 5 stars. My earlier comments still stand, the included screws are completely inadequate for heavy duty wood gates and should be upgraded, and the plastic covers...well I lost one. Gate details: this is a double gate spanning 12 feet with 8-ft and 4-ft gates. The gate frames are half-lap joint 2x6s and the gates are skinned with 1x6 tongue and groove cedar planks. The 8 foot gate has a spring loaded support wheel halfway along it. The 4 foot gate is the main entry / exit from the back yard and is used almost daily. One other thing, we get a lot of wind here, and I do mean a lot. The hinges have held up remarkably. I've only adjusted them once after initial installation. The spring closure isn't as strong as it once was, but I expected that and it doesn't bother me at all. I highly recommend these hinges.

these are crazy expensive, to me. but they work great. years later the gate had to be removed and replaced for a siding repair. the contractor wanted to know what they were. he said they were really easy to work with. adjusted well. so probably worth the cost. so much crap out there i figured i should leave a review.

These are the best gate hinges I've used. They were used to hang a 36" wide gate made of ipe. The gate weights close to 200 lbs and these hinges handle it no problem. Gate adjustment is easy with the threaded rod and a wrench. Self-closing tension is also easy to adjust, although they come pre-set. Installation instructions are a little vague in parts, but it's fairly obvious what to do. Install the threaded rod side onto the gate. Set the gate in place and install the post side. Adjust the gate tilt and tighten the lock nut. Install plastic cover plates. Done

Before I purchased, I read through all the reviews and wanted to share my own experience. I did not receive anything in exchange for this review. I installed the kit alone without any assistance on a standard residential wood gate. Overall it is packaged well, easy to install, reasonably priced, operates exactly as advertised, and looks great. I'm not sure why a few reviewers were negative, but if used within the specifications of the product, the kit is superior to other hinges I've used in the past. I did adjust the tension control down a little to slow the door on closing, which was a quarter turn with two wrenches. Highly recommended and would buy again!

After building a sturdy deer-proof fence to protect one of my wife's gardens, I needed to create two large doors for the entrance. The complex design of each door required a significant amount of wood, making their weight a concern. I needed hinges to support this heavy load (each close to 100 pounds). These hinges had a weight capacity of 150 pounds, which was more than adequate for my needs. They have successfully held the heavy doors in place for the past three years and have remained utterly rust-free. Additionally, I found the adjustment feature particularly useful for making minor gap width adjustments during installation. A friend of ours recently visited us. She has excellent carpentry skills and told me that she was very impressed with the appearance and quality of these hinges.

Good quality would be 5 stars if it did not claim "heavy duty" Install was not hard "Holds up to 150lbs" does not mean the spring is strong enough to close that heavy gate. (my gate even has an ugly wheel on it to help)

I love these hinges, my door is 4x6 and I have strong winds and these have held up no problem. I love how you can adjust the swing and door on it ! The screws are pretty decent but I'll replace them soon for the canadian winters to be safe. 10/10 would recommend

Best hinges out there. 3 way adjusting and string tension for closing heavy gates great construction, made with 1/8” steel. Would definitely buy again. They dot. Seem to be available easily I had to wait a while to get them.

Product was used to correct self-latching gate due to weight of gate. In terms of value for money, could have been a little cheaper but all in all I recommend for usage for self-latching get up to but less than 150 lbs.

Great hinges, used on a 100lb gate. In an area with 100km winds. Stood up for a year so far. Plastic covers, in the shade, still look good. Adjustments are easy, as I have already done a midwinter adjustment. Would buy again
