I got this because my HDMI cable was causing annoying flickering and jiggling on using a really old LCD TV. When I first plugged in the TV using this new cable, I wasn't getting any picture from the TV and it was saying "VGA no signal" even though my laptop was recognizing it and trying to display. How I got it to work was by going into Windows 10 display settings (advanced display settings) and changing the refresh rate to 60 hertz from the 59 hertz default. After doing that the display is stable. Downside is it's a VGA connection and picture isn't as clear but I much prefer this to a flickering jiggly screen!

When I was displaced last year after being at the company for 20 years, I had to return my work computer...understandable. That's all the equipment the company wanted returned. This left me with a keyboard and a nice monitor. After using my new laptop's keyboard and monitor, it was time to purchase cables that would enable me to use the monitor and keyboard (see my other review on the keyboard adapter). The challenge was the monitor used the VGA cord and my laptop had a C USB. I found the correct adapter, ordered it, and am now using the monitor and keyboard. What a difference!! Truth be told, technology and I are like oil and water...we will not mix!! The set up was easy!! Some positives: 1) this is affordable; 2) easy to install; 3) Amazon is true to their word and it was delivered in 24 hours. Thank you Amazon!!

The product somehow can work depending on the type of Graphic card. The problem is that HDMI is digital and VGA is analog. So it needs a separate processor to convert signals accordingly. Old laptops that have vga output will work somehow as they are capable of producing Analog signal and will recognize the output device but with loss of quality. Newer laptops with just HDMI or consoles might struggle or may not work at all. Better go for Adaptors than cables.

Just what I needed. New computer, old monitor; this got the job done. As described and came quickly.

This product is not HDMI compliant and will fail with most HDMI sources. HDMI specification requires only 55 mA current delivered via the 5V supply on pin 18. This adapter, however, attempts to draw up to 200mA at 5V. This far exceeds the spec'ed requirements of HDMI. It should use a supplemental power supply (or supplemental power via USB like a Chromecast), but does not. All HDMI compliant sources I tested fail with this adapter. The adapter does not drive video to a VGA monitor, or provide EDID info to the source. Unless you have measured current delivered by your video card, console, or other HDMI source to HDMI pin 18 to confirm it is sufficient for this power-hungry device, assume this adapter *will* fail with it. Additionally, embedding the adapter in the VGA end of the cable makes the VGA connector very bulky. It was not possible to plug in to 1 of 3 monitors I tested.

Connected a VGA monitor to my laptop and it seamlesly worked with both EXTENDED & DUPLICATE display mode. Only catch would be audio missing thru the cable but anyway can be gained from Motherboard....

Funciona bien. Compre otro de otra marca que me dío un pesimo resultado, se cortaba constantemente la señal. Este lo tengo hace unas semanas y todo bien.

collegato alla hdmi del portatile e alla VGA di un videoproiettore fullhd, e non funziona.
