Puritan's Pride Absorbable Calcium with Vitamin D 3 1000iu Softgels, 1200 mg, 200 Count

I like these calcium capsules. I expect they absorb better than the tablet kind. They include the necessary vitamin D to help the calcium absorb and work well. I took calcium for years for my bones, but a (grrr!) medical practitioner told me to stop taking them. Turned out that was the worst possible thing. Over the next several years I started having "incidents" with kidney stones which were generally minor though quite "uncomfortable". When I eventually had one bad enough to put me into the hospital I learned that low calcium intake can *cause* kidney stones!! So now I have another reason besides bone strength to take these. I have used more common calcium capsule/tablet supplements for years. There are only a few brands I trust and Puritan's Pride is one of my favorites for high quality and good price. In something like supplements I think a trusted brand does matter. The capsules are a little bigger than the pill form I took before. About the same size as my 1200mg fish oil capsules and I have no problem swallowing them together. Unlike pills you can't split these capsules. I'm very pleased with these Puritan's Pride 1200mg Calcium+D softgels and they gets 5 solid stars from me for quality and value!

EDIT: FOR CLARITY'S SAKE, I JUST MEASURED THE CAPSULE AND IT IS ONE INCH LONG. I HOPE THIS HELPS!! The pills are a little large, but I don’t have any trouble swallowing them. You can NOT break them in half to improve the ease of use, BUT if you have any difficulty swallowing pills, SWALLOW THEM POINTING DOWNWARDS... These pills DO NOT UPSET MY STOMACH, and THE STRENGTH IS RECOMMENDED BY THE FDA. I’m not a doctor, but Calcium is doctor recommended: ESPECIALLY FOR WOMEN WHO LOSE THEIR BONE DENSITY.There is no texture to speak of, as these are smooth. There is no taste because you simply swallow it with a liquid. They were very fairly priced and I’m going to do a subscribe and save with them because I won’t want to skip any doses. I would definitely recommend this product without reservation.

They are rather large. I have difficulty swallowing them.

If you are taking Calcium you must be sure to get one with Vitamin D3 for absorption. These are liquid inside the capsules which are better for absorption than a pill form. The only reason I didnt give it 5 stars is because they are kind of big to swallow. I find that taking them with a very juicy fruity such as watermelon or orange makes it easier to swallow them.
