Overcoming Selective Mutism: The Parent's Field Guide

This book covers everything there is to know about helping your child with selective mutism. I found that helpful but also overwhelming. The book could have used some paring down and maybe a simpler design so that readers could focus on the most important stuff. If you can't afford therapy, which is exorbitant and often not covered by insurance, then this book is the next best thing. Better still would be to use it in conjunction with therapy so you could get clarification and practice with your doctor.

If your child has SM, this book is a must-have. Written by true experts in the field. We attended an intensive treatment program led by the author of this book, and saying it was life-changing is an understatement. Of course, this type of treatment is very expensive, so if that is not a possibility for you this book offers SO MUCH useful information and is a pretty good low-cost alternative. Just buy the book - you won't regret it!

This book is fantastic!The book is easy to read. The information is clear and easy to understand. I have read several other books on Selective Mutism and I still learned new things.I loved the worksheets. I had been kind of stuck finding my daughter's next big goal, but we are using one of the worksheets for that--something I had not thought about doing.
