Best Book on Home Distilling out there
There are a handful of books and quite a few web sites that cover the subject of Home Distilling. None as well and complete as this book though. My opinion is that most material on Home Distilling is written by folks who do it for kicks without understanding the science behind it (least that't the way it appears when i read them). This book covers the topic in a very structured manner and backs up each section with science and reasoning. The book not only does a splendid job of explaining still building but also explains malting, mashing, fementation and distillation -- with clear instruction. I found it so useful that I bought a copy for my brother as well.

Excellent recipes, clear instructions
This book is perfect for someone who is just getting started in ethanol. The construction details are clear and well thought out and it is the best book that I have seen on the subject. I bought this with another well known book on ethanol. Although the other book was ten times longer. I wouldn't think of trading it for this one. It gives clear, step by step instructions for each topic.

Growing Interest in Distilling
I had a growing interest in whiskey, rye, scotch, and bourbon... and went on a book buying spree to learn more. This has some great info and good guidance in learning all there is to know about the world of home distilling...

SAME Old Gingery Boy's Writing What is Fit to Read
Seems Vincent has decided to do more with less. I love it because he doesn't waste my time by giving me bean sprouts which what I want is a steak. Don't get me wrong. Sprouts is fine on a shrimp sandwich. Still a filet mignon is a steak. When you want a book about building anything then find one written by a Gingery. Got it,Get it.dray

A good model for comparison
This book is not really "The Secrets" of still building. There is a good bit of information here, and it should be noted that this is for FUEL USE ONLY. It would be dangerous to drink alcohol that comes out of the example still. That said, this is a fairly good walk-through of a still construction. The writing style lacks something to be desired. A bit more organization and clarity would be nice. If you are doing research into still construction, this is a good, quick read as a reference.

I would recommend this book for someone wanting to start to build a still for the first time
Great book, the name says it all. Goes through the steps of producing the mash to building the still with a little of his own life trialsin the book. One thing is there is only one design of still, he goes through the whole process of building and the design and how it works, so that was good.

Everything you need to know about building an alcohol producing still.
This book will show you how to make a still to turn materials into a concentrated fuel for any ealy engine! Gives you a great scientific understanding of how it works and then shows you how to build a still to produce it! The secret is out! Must have for those who want to get off the grid and make your own fuel!

interesting
Fairly informative for those interested in home distilling which of course is not legal in the US. To build the actual still however, requires more tools and equipment than I expected. I'm glad I read it, but it will not be useful for me.

probably shouldn't be available in the uk
Its an american book and the law in the uk is different so is the availability of outdoor space. If you did O' Levele metal work and chemisry it doesn't tell you any thing you don't already know but armed with this book and those qualifications you could probably do it better and safer and quicker than you would do with out the book. If you haven't got the qualifications you are probably better off not trying even if you aren't worried about the criminal record putting it into practice will bring
