Logitech Wireless Touch Keyboard K400 with Built-in Multi-Touch Touchpad

The K400 is a wonderful compliment to HTPCs. I really can't image mine without it! Cheap and full functioned. Good size and sufficiently durable. Function Perfect! Has a dongle that will remain powered when the PC is sleeping. Any keyboard movement will wake up the PC making it ready for action. Ideal for HTPCs! I have an SSD drive so within about 5seconds of touching the keyboard, I'm ready to start watching something! Helps save a lot of energy to let my PC sleep and only wake when I want it to! There are many built in short cut buttons on the keyboard that are great for HTPCs, these include volume control, playback control. I understand that the new version of the k400r has removed these so if you want to use this for an HTPC I would recommend getting an original. They are also a bit cheaper. Size Almost perfect. This is actually a huge deal for me. I thought I wanted something really small like a real remote would be, but I tried the Lenovo and Logitech handheld keyboards and I was really disappointed with their ease of use(I don't have particularly large fingers either). This keyboard had just the right size for typing and yet isn't too big to be weird for a coffee table. There is probably a lot of personal preference built into "which size is right" but many people seem to agree that somewhere around the range of the k400 is about the right size. How else is it's popularity explained? Only thing I don't understand is the Van Halen design on the trackpad. (But I can live with that) Durability While not exactly built like a tank, this is durable enough for a couch area. I have accidentally sat on it a few times without issue. It probably could be a bit stronger but it is plenty durable. Range This is the only area that I've had some issues with. I have a mid-tower case placed on the floor next to my TV. The dongle is inserted in one of the front panel USB ports (about 2feet from the ground). I tend to place the keyboard in my lap when using from the couch. Sometimes I have my feet up on the edge of the couch so that they are blocking the line of sight to the receiver. At these timed the keyboard stops responding even though I'm only about 15 feet away from the receiver. Once I move my leg, it starts working again. I wish the receiver were more sensitive or the keyboard blaster stronger (perhaps adding a second blaster in the keyboard would solve the problem?)

Got this on a great sale, not sure if I like it as much for the full $39.99 price. Small keys, reminds me of a small laptop keyboard (before everything went chicklet style). Backspace and Enter (CR) are pretty small but I can make do. Got my typing up pretty fast without much effort. Comes with 2 AA batteries. Thanks! What I REALLY wanted was a tiny wireless keyboard. This is as close as I could find which has the attached touchpad. I am not a fan of touchpads, but this is probably a positive for people wanting to use this from their couch on their HTPC. You can disable tap to click and gestures, which I did immediately. FN plus left click turns off tap to click, FN plus right click turns off gestures. Some people may like the gestures (like pinch to zoom etc) but I found it annoying when trying to use the trackpad like normal and it interpreted it as some other command. You cannot (or I have not found out how to) disable the touchpad entirely. However I think I can live with this since it's on the right and not under the keyboard where I would be hitting it constantly (like on my laptop). Nano receiver is very tiny, and it also includes a tiny extension if you need it to stick out some from the back of the computer. Installed in XP and 7 instantly without needing any drivers. If you want Setpoint you have to download it, they didn't include a CD in the box. Not a huge deal. I'm not likely to use any of the advanced features (key re-mapping, gesture settings, etc) that require Setpoint. Range seems good. Plugged into HTPC and works fine 10-13 feet away which is perfect. I didn't test farther than that. It doesn't interfere with any of my other wireless Logitech devices, which is a big plus. I also have a K800 and a mouse that use the unifying receiver and I was worried about crosstalk. No problems at all. So in short, I like it. Don't mistake it for a full sized keyboard, you may not want to crank out any novels on this thing. But if you need small footprint or to use in the living room, this is a winner.

I ordered two of these keyboards because the prices were less expensive than Samsung's own SmartTV keyboard in addition they work with PCs and Macs. I plug in the unifying USB receiver into an available USB slot on the back of the television and the television instantly recognized the keyboard and it worked pretty well. Both the keys and the trackpad moved the mouse pointer on the television easily. Some of the Fn function keys such as F7 and F8 replicate channel changing buttons, F8 brings up the television's menu. It just takes a little trial and error to figure out what function they perform on the television. I also have a Dell Laptop with a Logitech mouse that uses an identical unifying USB receiver. I didn't not have any problems mating the keyboard with the receiver on the laptop and the keyboard and pad worked flawlessly. The one thing about this keyboard that bothered me was the right handed shift key. My bad really, I should have noticed the layout before ordering. I'm a full keyboardist and the right shift key is practically useless because it is so tiny. This keyboard would have been perfect had they decided to move the arrow keys underneath the track-pad. There is plenty of room for the arrow keys there and it would have given more room to put a full-size right-hand keyboard. If you type with all ten fingers, the right-hand shift key may bother you. On the positive note, since the Samsung television works with the unifying receiver, it would seem that any other Logitech wireless keyboard with a unifying receiver would work with these televisions. But finding a small one with a track-pad might be difficult. For this oversight, I took away one star. By the way, the Samsung television I paired this keyboard with is a 2013 model Samsung UN55F6400 55-Inch 1080p 120Hz 3D Slim Smart LED HDTV. A friend of mine has a 2011 D8000 series and I will bring the second keyboard over to his house and see if the keyboard works with these earlier televisions. I'll update my review when I find out. Update 8/25/2013 =============================== I had the opportunity to try out the second keyboard on Samsung UN55D8000 55-Inch 1080p 240Hz 3D LED HDTV (Silver), Samsung UN46D6400 46-Inch 1080p 120Hz 3D LED HDTV (Black) and a Samsung UN32EH5300 32-Inch 1080p 60 Hz LED HDTV (Black). Of these three television sets, only the UN32EH5300 recognized the keyboard. This leads me to believe that this keyboard will only work with 2012 models and newer and not the 2011 Samsung TV. So if your Samsung television has a letter "E" or later letter in the alphabet in the 5th character position of the model number, this keyboard will likely work with your television. If it has a letter "D" or preceding letter in the alphabet, you are probably out of luck :( I hope this helps anyone with 2011 models and earlier. If you have a 2012, you are probably good.

I bought this for my new Surface 3. I had previously been using an old Bluetooth keyboard because I refuse to pay $130 for the Microsoft official keyboard cover. There are several reasons why I don't care for the official keyboard, but I'll leave that decision up to you. For my purposes, any keyboard is going to work. However, I found myself wanting a mouse/trackpad for some purposes. I attached a mini mouse with a dongle. So now I had a Bluetooth keyboard and a mouse attached...and no available USB port. Now comes the USB hub. This is getting silly. I bought a Surface so I could use it as a tablet and I'm quickly turning it into a worse mess than just using a laptop. This is when I started looking for a keyboard that would provide me with a trackpad. Logitech products have always been good to me and I've used them with Windows PCs, Android, and all kinds of Mac devices. I have a lot of faith in Logitech products, because they have earned my respect. This keyboard is no different, but it is important to realize the intended use of this device. As people have used their computers to watch TVs that are across the room, they've needed ways to control them that are more elegant than stringing wires to mice and keyboards. Hence, the combination here. I haven't used it across the room yet, but it is working perfectly right out of the box on my Surface 3. All functions are working perfectly according to the excellent instructions that are actually provided on a piece of paper! [Bravo, Logitech! Who would have thought 10 years ago that an instruction sheet would be rare, or even more surprising--appreciated?!] The only downside to this keyboard is in the quality of the typing. Since this is designed to be used to control your media device, it is not necessarily meant to be used for extended typing sessions or for more precise mousing. As I said, it works perfectly, but it just doesn't feel like a quality piece of user interface equipment. Importantly, I PAID $24 DOLLARS FOR IT!!! Now that is a freaking value!!! Okay, it feels a little cheap, but it is very light weight, works perfectly, and combines everything I need to use my tablet as a PC, for $24!! Take that, Microsoft!! I love this thing! I've only used it for a few days now, but I cannot foresee any reason my enthusiasm will diminish. It uses Logitech's tiny little USB dongle that will communicate with multiple Logitech devices, it is lightweight but fully functional right out of the box (on WIndows 8.1), and it even comes with batteries already installed! As long as you understand that this will not feel like a premium typing experience and that the usual size limitations are in place (look at the pictures), you will be very happy here. The only thing I wish it had was a backlight, but again--IT IS $24!!!

Bought two of these in 2020, one for work and the other for home. Still going strong and price has tripled. It took a little getting used to as the layout is tighter or smaller than standard keyboards. Use rechargeable AA battrays, and have yet to find its maximum range.

I am using this keyboard as a remote/keyboard for my HTPC. For that purpose, it does a decent job. There is nothing about this keyboard that excels and no aspect of it falls flat either. Here are my thoughts after using it for about 1 month. The connectivity is okay. If you stay within 6-7 feet using the mini adapter, you'll be fine. Stray any further than that and you'll want to use the attached extender which boosts the range. But then who wants to have a long stick sticking out of the front of their HTPC? You could stick the extension and all in the back of the HTPC, but you lose range by doing that too so why bother? The key layout uses smaller keys than usual and takes a while to get used to. But the keys just don't have a nice response and feel very flimsy. The left click button on the top left of the keyboard is a nice touch and works well. But it begs the question, if they had bothered to think of adding an additional left click button, why didn't they go ahead and add buttons for "play," "pause," "stop," etc.... You could program them in as a function key, but then you're left with the hassle of pushing two keys simultaneously for each of those functions. The build quality, although it doesn't feel like it will break straight away, it doesn't exactly inspire much confidence either. Every plastic bit just feels cheaply made. The touchpad has a decent size and responds well, but it barely qualifies as multi touch. Don't fall for the misleading advertising. The only multi touch this keyboard does is vertical scroll. Nothing else. No forward or back. No horizontal scroll, at least not in any of Microsoft's products. Horizontal scroll does work in Google Chrome which suggests Logitech has been lazy and didn't bother with writing better drivers/software for this keyboard, which leads me to their tech support. Tech support is horrible. Using their email support, I reached out to Logitech about the lack of horizontal scroll in Microsoft products. It took them three responses (taking at least 2 weeks to respond each time) before they could understand the issue and told me that this keyboard doesn't support horizontal scroll. When I wrote back again for the 4th time reiterating that the horizontal scroll works in Google Chrome and suggested that this was a software issue on their end and something they could easily enable to help boost the functionality of their product, they sent back a response (again taking over two weeks) that my issue was resolved and closed. Nothing else was said. Way to shut the door on a customer who is actually giving you constructive feedback and helping you improve your product. All in all, it's an okay product. Nothing to get excited about. Think of this as a basic wireless keyboard with a trackpad built in. Expect anything more and you will be disappointed. I don't currently have room to set up a proper desk so i have been laying on my bed while using my desktop, connected to my TV. Running wires from the tower to my bed... Didn't take long for that to get really, really old. I got this to replace the wired keyboard and mouse when i am just doing simple tasks like surfing the web and writing amazon reviews like this one. The keyboard's layout is a little different and takes time to get used to, but once you do the convenience of having a keyboard and track-pad on the same wireless device, from a brand in my experience has always made great computer accessories. It doesn't necessarily feel like the highest quality when you first get it, because it is so super light. Honestly my first impressions of this keyboard's quality by the way it first felt in my hands, i wasn't quite sure how it would hold up. After have owning it for a few months and using it daily i have to say it has held up great and i think i will have it for years to come. One thing i would highly recommend, going online and getting the latest and greatest drivers. It will work plug-n-play however the only way you can turn up the sensitivity on the track-pad is with using the online driver. If after you install the driver, if you can't see the settings to adjust the track-pad, try un-syncing the keyboard with the wireless dongle it comes with then re-pair the device to the dongle. I don't know exactly why that happen's but that is something i had to locate the fix for online to adjust the settings. Along with higher track-pad sensitivity settings i also set my music key to start Pandora One which is pretty convenient, not to mention the PC sleep button works great for putting my computer to sleep as i walk away, as well as tapping the spacebar when i return to wirelessly wake it is great. I've also used this keyboard with my Galaxy S4, both keyboard and track-pad work great, as well as on my Nexus 7. I use this keyboard on my Nexus when i remote in to my desktop using Splashtop, and i have to say Splashtop + K400 really makes me feel like i really have the full power of my desktop on my tablet. Really love this keyboard especially for the price. It's the perfect keyboard for home theater center, or to use with Android devices.

I have two of these. One controls my HTPC (Home Theater PC). I use it about 10 to 15 feet away from the receiver, and there's never a problem. The other one is for my tablet PC at work, when I want to do stuff that shouldn't be on my work computer. I use it when I need it, then shove it in a drawer. In both cases, it works wonderfully. I'm a touch typist, and on a good day I can crank out 70 words a minute...on the right keyboard. This, of course, isn't the right keyboard for hard core typing. I get roughly 30 to 40 words a minute on this one, which is overkill for what I do on them. This is excellent for a small, wireless keyboard with a built in touchpad. Oh, it has a touchpad. I'm not a huge fan of touchpads, however for my HTPC it's perfect. I already have a PC I use while watching TV, and juggling mice isn't the most fun you'll have. I like how it has a standard left button, and another left button on the left side of the keyboard. That came in handy right away. I also like how it has dedicated buttons, though I haven't been able to get them to do anything. Not a big deal for my use. The USB receiver is connected to an extension cable, and it sits right next to a Direct TV DVR, an N600 wireless extender/router, and an AT&T Microcell. I have no problems with reception, even with all this wireless bedlam going on. Impressive! As for the tablet setup, I do a little typing on that, and usually use a pen to navigate rather than the touchpad. If you need true portability, the receiver fits snugly in the battery bay. Unless you need to type at an insane speed or require pretty lights and other methods of turning keyboards into circuses, you want this. Highly Recommend!

Habe die Tastatur für einen Amazon Fire TV Stick erste Generation gekauft. Sie hat US intl. Layout und passt perfekt zum Stick. Habe auch die K400 Plus bestellt, aber die ältere K400R gefällt mir von Optik und Haptik viel besser. Der Preis von knapp 40 € war für mich ok. Vergleichbare Tastaturen in diesem Layout kosten teilweise mehr.

タイトルの通り。届いた商品パッケージには確かにK400と書かれているがキー配列がWEBの商品写真と異なる。 実際に届いたK400のパッケージのキー配列はK400rと同じ様だ。 具体的にはF1-F12キーに別のキーが割り当てられている、上部のホットキーの割り当てキーがWEBの商品写真と異なる。 写真を追加したので詳しくはそちらを参照して欲しい。 少し調べたところ、どうやらK400には仕様の違う初期型と後期型がある様だ。 初期型がWEBの商品写真のキー配列。F1-F12キーがそのまま使える。 後期型がK400rのキー配列。F1-F12キーはFNキーと当時押しが必要。 F1-F12キーがFNキーと同時押しする必要があるK400plusやK400rが嫌でこの商品が欲しい場合は注意。 私はこの点を期待して買ったのに意味が無く返品申請した。 買う前に販売業者にキー配列を問い合わせする事をオススメする。

This is very nice keyboard quite compact and can be used for both PC and Mac. It works great even during Bios setup of my Laptop.

This is the second one of these I have bought. The first was for the TV and it as worked for years. Easy to operate from my lap. This one I bought to bring with me when I am on the go with my Raspberry Pi 4B. It works out of the box with it. A nice size keyboard for adult sized fingers and an easy to use touchpad.
