La storia di Eilis Lacey, una giovane donna irlandese che emigra negli Stati Uniti negli anni '50, è raccontata con una sensibilità e una profondità che rendono il libro indimenticabile.Consiglio vivamente "Brooklyn" a chiunque ami le storie intime e profonde che esplorano il viaggio interiore di una persona tanto quanto il viaggio fisico. È un romanzo che rimane con te molto tempo dopo aver voltato l'ultima pagina, un ritratto autentico e commovente della vita di un'emigrante.

Auch in diesem Buch steht - wie so oft bei Toibin - eine interessante Frau im Mittelpunkt. Gefühlvoll und präzise schafft Toibin ein Portrait einer jungen Irin, die nach Amerika auswandert, um dort ihr Glück zu machen.

You will only understand the pain in this book if you ever had to move to another place for work or some other reasons and somehow that other place becomes your new home and your old home becomes foreign to you because this new place changed you. Yeah...That is not one of the best explanations but the book is awesome. Quality and delivery, too, are awesome.
