Best Budget Air Cooler I’ve Used – Insane Performance for the Price
The Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE has honestly been one of the best upgrades I’ve put in my PC. I’ve been using it for a while now in my setup, and the performance has been amazing for an air cooler in this price range. It keeps temps low and stable even under load, and it just quietly does its job without any drama. The dual 120mm PWM fans move a lot of air while still staying fairly quiet, and the 6 heat pipe design really seems to make a difference in heat dissipation. Installation was straightforward, and it’s been fully reliable across long gaming and everyday use sessions. It also fits a wide range of sockets, which made it perfect for my setup. Overall, it’s easily one of the best or the best value cooler out there.

Cool Runnings
Works great so far. 10900k at idle was sitting at around 30°c when the ambient temp in the room was 85°f. This does come with its own tube of thermal paste but I had some leftover Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut so I used that instead. Not sure how good or had the Thermalright paste is but its a pretty big tube of it, its enough for 5-6 PCs. Can't comment on how loud it is, I couldn't hear it but my room has a lot of background noise. All in all installation was fairly simple (its pretty much like any other after market air cooler) and it did include a 4pin splitter so if you only have one cpu fan header you can still run both fans that come with this cooler. And for the price its a no trainer. This cooler is essentially the modern era version of the Hyper 212 Evo.

For the price, its a really great cooler.
My Ibuypower water cooler failed on my system. (I discovered this is very common). I was debating on either getting a water cooler or going to Air cooling. I checked a lot of videos online and this air cooler kept coming up in the top 5 replacement recommendations over and over again. (search water coolers vs Air coolers) Since I don't do any overclocking and the fact that they are much more reliable, I bought this unit. It works really great. It cost so much less than a water cooler and (in my opinion) is easier to install that a water cooler unit with hoses and radiator and cpu block. Positives: Very Affordable Cools very well Very well made Package comes with everything you need. (different cpu socket mounts and thermal paste) Extremely reliable. (no worries about coolant leaks or pump failure or in my case, clogged lines) The fans that come with it seemed pretty quiet. (more than my cheap water cooler fans) Negatives: Can be a little difficult to install. The most difficult part was installing the fans. The instructions could be better. (they're not horrible). I do recommend watching online videos. Its big, you definitely need to make sure you have enough room in your case. Additional Recommendations: The thermal paste that comes with the package is ok, but I would highly recommend buying a high quality NON CONDUCTIVE thermal past. (Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut, Artic-mx4, Cooler Master MasterGel Pro v2 etc) This is important! Make sure its NONCONDUCTIVE. Some thermal paste uses metallic ingredients to aid in thermal conductivity. The problem with this is that if you apply too much, it can go into the cpu electronic components and damage your system. With noncoductive thermal paste, this isn't a issue so you don't really need to be too exact. (If its a little too much, it doesn't hurt anything.) This Air cooler also comes in single or double tower configurations, if your case can support it, I would definitely get the double tower. Make sure you get the fans installed/oriented correctly. I would also recommend installing cpu temperature monitoring software as well to make sure that everything is working correctly. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a very reliable and very affordable air cooling option.

Great CPU Cooling for a Good Price
When I built my PC five years ago I installed a Dark Rock Pro 4 for my CPU cooler. It worked very well, but over the years the fans grew louder, the cooling became less efficient, and dust began to accumulate in hard to clean places. I decided to look for an affordable replacement and settled on the Thermalright Peerless Assassin. Overall, I believe this was a very good choice. Compared to my Dark Rock Pro 4, the Thermalright Peerless Assassin was a breeze to install. The LGA 155x bracket fit my motherboard and was easy to install. The thermal paste seemed thicker than other pastes I've used, but it went on neatly and is clearly working. The spring screws seem to have secured the cooler to the brackets very well. My biggest complaint with my old cooler was installing the fans. Happily, I can report that the Peerless Assassin's fan are easy to install, and remove if needed, and are secure. In terms of performance, I'm completely satisfied. The fans are not as quiet as my Dark Rock Pro 4 when I first installed it. However, they are an acceptable low volume. My PC has an Intel Core i7-8700k CPU and the cooler has no problem keeping it between 20C to 30C while idle or under a light load. I am no longer an avid gamer, and do not play modern video games, however I did test the thermals while playing Minecraft. It kept my CPU around 40C most of the time and would briefly shoot up to 50C when loading parts of the map. At less than 40 USD this cooler is a fantastic option for CPU cooling. Its significantly less expensive than comparable coolers, is easy to install, and delivers good performance.

Great Cooling, Slight Fitment Quirks
This cooler does an excellent job keeping temps under control. Even during heavier workloads, it handles heat really well and keeps everything running stable. For the price, the performance is honestly impressive and competes with much more expensive options. That said, installation took a bit more patience than expected. The mounting process isn’t difficult, but it can feel a little awkward, especially in tighter cases. Also, make sure you have enough clearance for RAM and your case, since it’s a fairly large cooler. Once it’s in, though, it’s solid—quiet, efficient, and reliable. If you don’t mind spending a few extra minutes on setup and double-checking fitment, it’s definitely worth it.

Good Value CPU Cooler with Good Looks
This CPU cooler is good value for the performance. Pros: -Kept a Ryzen 7 5800x cool under long gaming loads. Kept it around 60-70c max at 100% gaming load. -Cool dual tower design with two fans included. -Noise at low temps is basically silent -Actually helped ambient temps because the two fans guided air out of the case. Cons: -Installation is a bit trickier than an AIO cooler or stock coolers because it has two mounting screws. -Tried it with an i9 14th gen but needs a good case airflow. It did not do well in a sustained workload or in benchmarks. Didn’t wait for it to stabilize before closing the programs. i7 wasn’t bad and the 9800x3d was ok too. Overall a good cpu cooler for the money. I kept it in an AM4 build because it kept the same temps as a 240mm AIO. It also helps with directing airflow in the case with the two fans.

Budget, reliable cooler. No complaints.
The PA120 SE works like a charm, easy to install and comes with everything you need for the task. It’s cooling my Ryzen 7 7800X3D in a fully air-cooled system, paired with a full configuration of Thermalright 120mm case fans. You might want to look into separate thermal compound, regardless, temperatures stay well within lower range for this CPU even at maximum load.

High quality, quiet cooler at a great price
I needed to replace an old Corsair all-in-one liquid cooler on my Intel i9-9900K after I discovered small leak. I'm planning to give away this system to a friend so the Peerless Assassin worked out great. It was easy to install, has the flexibility to adjust the two fan location/height if you have taller ram sticks, and incredible value for what you get. Its not as flashy as others with RGB fans, but if you're not focused on the cosmetics then this knocks it out of the park for the price. I noticed relatively comparable performance between the liquid cooler and the Peerless Assassin so its robust enough to handle CPUs that tend to run hot. The fans run extremely quiet, once the side panel went back on it was essentially silent.

Product is good
Haven’t installed it yet because I’m unable to purchase DDR5 RAM due to its overhyped prices. About the cooler it's good.

"Wow", is all I can say
I've recently upgraded my budget gaming laptop's CPU to Ryzen 7 5800X, fitting in a Mini ATX casing and basic neutral airflow. Have tried to recycle the previously Ryzen 5's stock fan, but the temperature hit 90 Celsius a couple of times and shutdown my PC. Had to resort to eco mode for awhile until I came across the raving review of TPA120SE. Reverting to normal mode (non-Eco) and installing TPA120SE, the same high intensity game doesn't cause the temperature to spike above 70 Celsius, usually floating between 43 - 65 Celsius. And the price point is incredible for the value it delivers!
