Replacement Sunvisor Vanity Mirror Cover for Porsche 996, 997, 987 Boxster, Cayman

The part is well made but don’t attempt to install unless you first file 1-2mm of each side they aren’t easy and will not just pop in. I used a small thin flat head and catch one side first. Once installed they look perfect like originals. I like the warning decal and felt on the inside. Perfect look. Overall great price for a part that always breaks. After 20 years I can’t complain.

Got these for mu 2004 C4S. So now the vanity lights work! Only issue is installation. They fit with such a tight tolerance that even after watching YouTube videos on how do do it, it was impossible. So ground off about a 16th of an inch at the connection point and that made it much easier. All good.

Quality is exceptional but will be difficult to put on. I personally couldn’t do it-but I was never good at these things anyway. So I will leave this to the agile…..

These are an amazing value. Thick and strong plastic with a nice felt liner over the mirror. However, they are impossible to install until you break out a file. The width of the pivot point on the visor is the same as the slot in which it goes into. The problem is there are pins that need to go into the visor and they are about 3/32" long each. So you slide it onto one pin and then (according to the video) you simply use a screwdriver to lever the other side over the pin...BUT it will never work. You need to file each side down a bit and bevel the leading edge to guide the pins into the holes in the visor. Once you spend a minute filing, they go in within a few minutes. And if you do not do this, you will probably break the pins off of the mirror assembly.

As others have stated it is a hair too long and makes it nearly impossible to put in. A quick file later and she looks like new. Great part

Some how the cover to the vanity mirror on the drivers side in my 2001 Porsche broke. I like maintenance projects and a 23 year old car gives me plenty of opportunities. This project with the trimming left me wondering had I gone too far? I used an isolating saw to trim one side to fit. Oops should have done less trimming on both sides. Oh well once I was done and the cover in place I realized maybe I could’ve just superglued the old one in place…why do I need a mirror on the drivers side? I don’t, at some point in a car with 151,000 miles and you are the seventh owner I likely need to stop caring about the little stuf, like buying a cover I dam well knew would not fit!

I don't normally write reviews but, the product was exactly as described however; the video for installation was extremely useful. If you google how to replace this, there is the easy way (this product and video) or, the hard way, which is what you will find when you google how to do it.

Nice replacement option here for my 987 Boxster. I did have to file down one end of the receiving hole for it to fit into both holes. Just took a couple seconds (don't file off too much!). Strong quality that will last for years to come,.
