11+ Verbal Reasoning Study and Practice Book for GL and CEM, Ages 7-12

A very useful book for people prepping themselves for 11plus. Loved it. it proved to be very helpful. detailed answers step by step

Just what I needed- good explanation.

Much of what I have to say about this book applied to the English Study and Practice book by this publisher, so to avoid repeating myself I will summarise here and suggest that you look at that review for more detail.The are 160 pages in this book which is very well printed on high quality paper. There is a contents, introduction (how to get the best out of it), subjects are introduced with examples followed by practice for the pupil, then parent-administered timed tests. Lastly the answers are given at the back then an index and glossary (to enable you to dip in for specific study areas). To me this is most logical and useful format and I cannot think of a better one.I quite enjoyed the Verbal Reasoning and I expect my wife would, too. The practice questions aren’t all as straightforward as you might expect and so a few more examples would perhaps be welcome (for dads if not the children!). I would suggest that if you are buying 11+ study books covering a few topics that you buy them from the same publisher so that you are not relearning a new format each time. Given how good the format of these books is I would just stick with them.PROS:Very high quality book (paper and printing).Excellent format, which will in my view enhance learning and check comprehension in a logical and easy to use way.CONS:You may well be able to find study books or practice books for this subject for a lower price. Whether you can find one that is both for the same money and of the same quality is less likely I expect.It is shame that they don’t appear to offer a multi-buy deal for parents wishing to buy the full set of subjects.Perhaps a few more examples would be nice but that probably not 100% necessary.OVERALL:There is very little if anything to fault with this book. In my view they have the format spot on and if you and your child are serious about the 11+ or even want to augment their school studies then this would seem an ideal choice.

Very good practise book for my daughter.

After doing some exercise with more pictures and colours, we have decided to go for a more serious, practical type of exercise for my 8-year-old. This book has a more serious layout with a lot more topics covered. It doesn't have much pictures or colourful diagrams so it is focused on the knowledge and practise questions.It is set for 7 to 11 years old, so my kid doesn't able to do all the chapters yet, however, we would select those topics that have already been covered at school. We will try to do a topic each time as too much practice in one day might scare my child off.Overall, this practice book is very informative with clear explanations. However, it is better for parent to help along with the explanations. I am happy to recommend it.
