Kia 94750-37100 Engine Oil Pressure Switch

Fixes the common problem of oil leaking from the sensor when the engine is running. Very easy to do, if you know how to change your own oil. You can install with basic wrench, no special tool needed.

I bought this to fix the following issue: oil pressure indicator light when oil is warmed up and engine is at <1500 RPM or idle. If my Sorento had the 3.3L V6, then it would have been covered under the extended (150,000 mile) warranty, but no such luck with my 2.4L V4. I've heard that dealerships will charge >$850 for this repair, so I am very glad I was able to DIY it. It's a pain, but simple process to replace. You do -not- have to take off the intake manifold. There is a bracket with 4 bolts on the underside of the motor just above the oil filter that needs to be moved out of the way. From there, you can disconnect the oil pressure switch from the wiring harness. If there is oil in the wiring harness connection, then the switch was bad and needed replaced. To replace the switch, you need a 23 mm or 15/16" deep socket and a long ratchet or socket extension. There will be a bit of struggle to get everything to fit in a tight space, and you will be working blind for some of it. Replace the old with the new switch, torque to ~15 ft-lbs or just past hand tight. The threads are small and fragile, plus they are tapered (threads will not go all the way in). It took me about 30-45 minutes from start to finish. Good luck!

This is a factory Kia oil pressure sending unit used on many Kia cars. It’s a common failure point where oil will leak from the plastic housing and your oil pressure light will occasionally come on at idle. I have two 2017 Kia Sportages and both failed within a few months of each other so these were a welcome fix considering the dealer price is 4x what Amazon charged. As for changing this sending unit, it’s not terribly hard but takes some patience. Remove the lower skid plate/belly pan and then from underneath remove the metal brace that supports the intake and connects to the block directly in the way of removing the sending unit. Once that metal brace is out of the way, it’s possible to remove the sending unit. The hardest part for me was getting the wiring unclipped from the old one prior to removal.

Engine oil light came on but had plenty of oil. I was glad it was this sensor that failed and not the oil pump. As you know, if you own a Kia, the oil is a touchy subject. Kia’s love to burn oil so want to make sure sensors are all reading accurately before the engine blows. Easy to install

Putting aside the early failure of this sensor which leaks oil all over and it's stupid location, this is a factory part for $10 less than the dealership. What's not to like ?
