Overall, I couldn't be happier with this purchase. Was happy to see it in such a great box and shipped really well.

I can't wait to find a way to frame this thing and mount it on the wall. I showed it to my kids and told them how these tiny little squares are the building blocks of technology we all use every day. I haven't had a chance to look at it under a microscope yet, but I work at a school so I plan on doing that soon (I'll try to update this review with a photo). $50 seems like a lot, but when you look at it as a display piece I think it's probably reasonable. Do handle it with care... you can tell right away that this is a fragile item. If you or your kids are interested in electronics/technology and the way they work, this is worth a look. Finally, I did find myself wishing that the vendor included some information about the specific ICs that I received. Just a paper informational insert would've been great. Perhaps this is something they can look to include in the next batch?

I'd been wanting one of these types of pieces for years. Having been in technology all my life. So many people don't realize how much of their life relies on these microscopic pieces of doped silicon. As another reviewer said, I don't know what the specific ICs are on my wafer, but regardless of that, it's gorgeous. Very prismatic and looks great. I intend to (when I can better protect it) put it under my microscopes and see what details I can see, but even with a 10x loupe, it's like "little cities". The price may seem high, but in perspective, when you think about how much these wafers wind up costing to make in the first place, it's not that bad after all. I need to find a proper show box for it. The "fancy" box it came with just has foam and thin cardboard. This deserves better. If you're a fan of technology and art. I recommend getting one.
