The Smartypants' Guide to the AP Environmental Science Exam

Good for cramming
This is a short, condensed and concise book that contains everything you need to know to ace your Environmental Science class and the AP test! The entire book is 115 pages, but the materials section is around 66 pages. It's a great book if you just need to brush up on prior knowledge and have a quick, easy review of big concepts. I would not recommend this book for self studying, but it's a great complement to have with another review book or with a class in school. Also, the book was published in 2005 and has not been updated at all, so some information regarding environmental law and other small technicalities are outdated. Still, all the big picture concepts and ideas you need to understand to ace whatever you need to is in this book. It has one practice test with one multiple choice and one free response section.I used this book to quickly cram for a test I had, and it covered all the information I needed perfectly!

Incredible good review! But make sure you use it properly.
This book is probably the best book out there for AP environmental science prep! Seriously it has a majority of what you need to know! And it is really short. However to get the most out of it you need to read through it slowly and make flashcards on every bulleted term (usually quite a few per page), because unlike other prep books you probably should know everything in here, no detail is too obscure. I am very impressed with the presentation. If you are just planning on using this book then make sure to review smart multiple choice tips especially how to eliminate answers via categorization. And then go in more depth on the topics spoken on in the book through free you-tube videos, or other prep books (I advise Princeton)).

Perfect for students who had studied throughout the year!
After looking at various review books, I agreed with my AP enviro teacher that this was the best pick as well. I studied fairly well throughout the school year, and this book is a great review source. I did not want to spend a lot of time relearning concepts through a large textbook. This one on the other hand, is affordable and hits all important points learned throughout the course. The organization is very simple and straightforward which I loved! I am now a 2nd year in college and I still have it around to refresh concepts that appear in other life/enviro. courses. My sister will be using the same one as well!! Highly recommend to all taking the APES exam!

Good to score 3
It's good to get an overview of the subject. It's outdated but will help for a quick study. You will need a more detailed book to score higher than 3.

Recommended by a tutor, passed AP test
My sons tutor recommended this book. He passed his AP test with a 4 out of 5. Not a very thick book which tells me it has the right amount of content.

This book was not as detailed as I'd have liked it to be
I self-studied for the AP Enviro exam. This book was not as detailed as I'd have liked it to be. It covers nice, large concepts, but skips on details. My advice is to study this book, along with the Princeton Book and the Crash Course, in order to gain a good hand on the material. As with all AP's, do practice exams as well!

Helped lots. Good place to start when self studying 5/5.
Very nice way to self study or review. Written with lots of mistakes but thats what you expect from a college student writing an AP test prep book. Will probably recommend to anyone self studying for this test.

Disappointed
1. REALLY SHORT -- 65 or so pages of material for a year-long course2. Skips over vocab words -- many vocabulary words from the test aren't covered.3. Outdated -- published in 2005. The AP course has been thoroughly revised since then.4. Expensive -- twenty dollars for about a hundred pages? PR is about 15 for 300 pages.

Two Stars
Better if you get the Princeton Review publication
