The first difference between Sunsun 303A and 303B is that 303B has UV light in it. The problem with UV light is it breaks in transit, the bulb gets fused and there is a chance of water leakage inside the UV compartment. So I preferred the 303A. 303A works awesome but you need to apply vaseline to the O ring every time you open the canister to avoid leakage. The Propeller needs to be cleaned as hard water gets deposited on the ceramic shaft and it does not spin after 2-3 months of usage. You can use fine-grit sandpaper used for cleaning car paint and just rub the shaft for a smooth performance. Add ADA Bio Rio in the 2nd and 3rd tray, sponge filters Medium coarse and fine in the bottom tray and it's good to go. You can add Activated carbon used in the Kent water filter to an internal filter and use it along with it. It will do chemical filtration and do the gaseous exchange in the tank. Very silent motor. I am using it continuously without switching it off for 5 months now. Review after a total of 7 months of usage -- I added another prefix filter 603 Sunsun without motor and with filter pads only and just opened that up to clean up the muck and have made the bigger filter a live filter by adding Biohome and ADA filter media. Now it has 2 kilos of bio home and 2 liters of ADA bio Rio and I have not opened it for 2 months and just clean the 603 filter sponge pads. I have not added any sponge pads to the bigger filter learned this from a great guy "The Pond Guru". The water in the tank has done a full cycle. I just change 50% water after 20 days and have two Oscar fish in my tank "Fire" is Copper and "Yellow" is Golden Oscar. This is the first time in 25 years I have seen the "Full cycle of the tank happening" No smell and you can drink the water it's so damn clear. Verdict -- Buy it, it's an awesome filter and is good enough for a 280-liter tank. If your tank is bigger go for the 304 and if smaller u can stick to this. Give me a thumbs up if you find the review helpful. I just need to know how many people could I help with the review. Cheers UPDATE on 29 August 2022 -- The Impeller gets stuck due to minerals in the water. I had to change 3 impellers in less than a year ... O ring was changed once AND NOW IT'S AGAIN LEAKING. I haven't opened it more than 4-5 times each time to change something as I use a different sponge filter and had made this just for ADA bio Rio and Bacteria culture. I would suggest buying better quality. SunSun has launched a Xaoli series and I am trying to find it. Its price on Amazon is 6000/- more than what other sellers are selling it for. Update on 8th October -- Faced a lot of issues due to jammed impellers and continuous leakage I was fed up. I now bought a SunSun XWA(Xaoli series) 1000-3. Xaoli series is a premium quality of sunsun. I did not change anything just filled it up with old media from the 303A and also installed a Fluval Inline UVC, it's just 3 watts and clears Algae amazingly. Now was the time to get an exotic fish ... So found and bought a VIP class 9.9 Kamfa. (9.9 is the breeder and they have business in India also. I hope this will help you decide now or be confused now. XWA 1000-3 has different models you can check it out. It's very sturdy and the design is awesome it's pumping double the water than the HW 303A.

Perfect product for my new 5ft aquarium. Working so perfectly without any flaws. No leakage at all. 99% silent and vibration free. It was so easy to install. Overall a great product. In the video water may look brownish it's because there is no light on the tank but the water quality is just crystal clear. I have added filter media of my choice. Let me make you clear that the product doesn't comes with any filter media but SunSun provides three pieces of filter pads for each tray. I suggest fish keepers to go with sunsun HW 303A without UV light, it supports my customised tank which is 60"×18"×20" approximately 350 liters of water volume capacity.

I recently purchased the SunSun HW-303A canister filter for my 150-liter African cichlid tank. Before installing it directly in my main tank, I read several reviews and noticed a few people reported leakage issues or fish deaths, possibly caused by grease (Vaseline) in the O-ring. 💡 So here's what I did to avoid any problems: ✅ I did not connect it to my tank immediately. ✅ I tested the filter using only clean water and the provided green inlet/outlet pipes in a separate bucket. ✅ I ran the filter for 30 minutes to check for: Motor function Leakage (no leaks at all!) Noise level (absolutely silent) ✅ The unit came with some Vaseline-like grease, but I noticed no smell, and I ran the filter twice with clean water to remove any possible residues. ✅ All pipes and sponges were sun-dried properly before storing. 💬 My Suggestion to Future Buyers: Before connecting to your main tank: 1. Always do a leak test in a separate bucket using clean water. 2. Do not install any media during the test – just run with the inbuilt sponge and pipes. 3. Flush out the initial grease if present (common with new filters). 4. Only after successful testing, install it in your aquarium with proper media setup. This method will protect your fish and ensure peace of mind. 🎉 Final Verdict: Great performance, quiet operation, no leaks. Just be cautious and test first! 📌 Note: This is my initial review after the first test. As of now, the product works great. However, I will monitor the performance after 24 hours, 48 hours, and 1 month to see if any leakage or issues appear during long-term use. --- 🟢 Conclusion: The canister filter looks promising. Works silently, no leaks so far. I’ll update my review later based on how it performs over time.
