My daughter just loves Pokémon. This is all brand new to us. She's only 5, is this good to buy for her first cards?

If she is reading well then yes. If she just likes looking at the cards then go to your local comic book shop and buy some used cards for cheap. This is a game with three set decks to teach her and you how to play the game. It’s great for this purpose it it may be a little early for a 5 year old.
