2001: A Space Odyssey Aries-1B Lunar Carrier 1/48 Scale Model Kit

The kit comes with about 400 parts and is a skill Level 3 for moderately advanced modelers. It is about 14" in diameter with the classic nuclear engine bells at the base in high relief. The beauty of the Aries 1b is in the real-world inspired simplicity of the design and complexity of the model. The main dome is large and configured to allow assembly stacked with the other parts to include the detailed passenger cabin. The cockpit is highly detailed with decals for the control panel. No figures make this a little bit pricey for what it is but shop around and find this for $196 or so. The detail of the landing gear is also worth mentioning as it allows for extension or retracted poses. Could be spring loaded with the right updates and no doubt detailed sets will be coming out shortly for the basic kit. Shop and Save!
