Injured and in need of a change of clothes, Jason finds himself...
Part 3 opens the evening after the events of Part II. Injured and in need of a change of clothes, Jason finds himself at a lakefront shop owned by Harold and Edna Hockett. With a storm blowing in on Crystal Lake, plenty of wind, thunder, and lightning set the tone as Edna is watching the local evening news detailing the grisly events (discovered that morning) from the night before. Catching only brief glimpses here and there, and with nothing covering his face, Jason stalks and kills the not too likable Hocketts' around their property and shop.Released in 1982, Part 3 stands as one of the better entries in the franchise. After one of the more truly intense openers to any of the Friday the 13th movies, we are introduced to a new group of teens heading to Crystal Lake for some summer fun. This movie is a nice departure from the first two, as the teens aren't Camp Counselors and this isn't camp. The setting is Higgins’ Haven, the family farm of Chris Higgins – The Final Girl. Jason seems to have arrived at Higgins' Haven before the teens and is hiding out in the barn. The way Jason creeps around the barn and stalks his victims like a stealthy shark is great. Many people seem to have a problem with this movie for that, but really, where else would he hide, especially in broad daylight? There is only a two-story farmhouse, a barn, and an out-house on the property. Don't worry, he eventually makes it into that house…Things of note regarding Part 3:It is the first movie Jason dons the iconic Hockey Mask.We as an audience definitively find out where Crystal Lake is located: Green Valley, NJThe movie opens on the evening of Saturday the14th and ends on the morning of Monday the16th.A word on Continuity:Parts II - IV form a trilogy of sorts, with Part 3 tucked neatly in the middle. The three movies cover a killing spree by Jason that spans 6 consecutive days (Thursday the12th – Wednesday the18th) resulting in 33 victims. For this alone, the Friday the 13th franchise has established some really good, strong continuity within itself. (Huge fan of the Halloween franchise but, 5 different Timelines? More about that in the Halloween 2018 review.) The fact that the first 8 Friday’s share only 1 linear, albeit, not totally perfect Timeline helps this case even further. The trilogy isn’t perfect; Jason goes from having a noticeable amount of head hair at the end Part II, to being clean shaven at the beginning of Part 3. Even as far ahead as Part VII though, the director was trying to make sure that the damage Jason’s mask had matched Parts 3 and IV.Fun Fact: In Part II, Ginny Field and Paul Holt were shown as being the only survivors of Jason’s rampage. In Part 3, while Edna is watching the news report about the murders, the reporter says that only 8 victims were found and Ginny Fields was the lone survivor. Where is Paul? This is a mystery that has baffled people for years. If Paul had been murdered there would have been 9 victims. Steve Miner, the director of Parts II and 3, has a cameo in Part 3 as the newscaster, ala Hitchcock. There is speculation that Paul did die in a cut scene from Part II where his body could be seen in Jason’s lair, BUT if this had been the case why not alter the reporter’s dialogue for Part 3? It was the director delivering those lines, after all. So for now, Paul has just vanished into thin air! Thanks for reading my review.Hope you enjoyed some of the facts that are peppered throughout.

One of the better installments -- 3D or no
One of the better installments of the F13 franchise but something that I just never developed the same level of fondness for that other fans do (many of whom cite it as their favorite installment). I think part of my issue is that I just don't feel for Chris (Dana Kimmel) the Final Girl in this one. There's a lot of weird questions about her previous encounter with Jason and she sleepwalks through the majority of the role. Worse, she establishes the trend of somewhat dull and uninspired virginal heroines (albeit she and her boyfriend are implied to have been sexually active in the past). The supporting cast is really the best in this film with the most memorable character being Shelly (Larry Zerner). Shelly is the worst stereotype of nerds in that he's sexist, entitled, suffering from all manner of self-esteem issues, and kind of a jerk. Despite this, or perhaps because of it, he's easily one of the most memorable characters in the franchise. Also, entertaining as hell. He brings some much-needed levity to the story in his vain attempts to get Vera Sanchez (Catherine Parks) into bed.The movie was filmed with the intent of showing it in 3D and there's a number of oddball moments which were clearly meant to be "thing leaps out at audience." The movie doesn't really suffer from their absence, though. The confrontation with Jason in the barn remains probably the best of the Final Girl confrontation moments, though, whatever my feelings on Chris.

My fav of the FTT series.
I saw this in theaters when it was released. It was in 3D. Watching it without 3D is fine, but it looks a bit strange when the actors are holding things up to the camera for an extended amount of time, and there is no 3D effect. The formula is pretty much the same as most of the other FTT movies - Jason+teens=slaughtered teens. Jason gets his classic hockey mask in this one, so there’s that. This is still my fav of all of the FTT movies. It’s classic Jason Vorhees. The addition of the biker gang added some good “non-teen” characters to the movie (especially the leader - he’s bad a$$!) Still an 80s cheese-fest, but a lot of fun!

Jason and the Barn of Death
A van load of Jason Targets go up to Crystal Lake somehow oblivious to the last batch that got turned into Jason Kibble and find out Jason is just getting into his stride. This movie was made during the 80s 3D craze and much of the movie is geared for this and comes across as incredibly gimmicky. The movie also goes into total false scare overload. It felt like the only requirement for the script was there must be a jump scare every 2.3 minutes or you don’t get paid. It gives the movie a very rocky pace with you being bounced from jump scare to jump scare. Jason finally gets his iconic hockey mask and offs the oddest batch of Jason Targets yet. Between the dollar store Tommy Chong to bikers for some reason, to Shelly the most loathsome Jason Target of them all. Honestly I can’t think of another character in any Friday the 13th movie that annoyed me more. It was almost like they offered him to the audience so they wouldn’t feel so bad about Jason machete-ing his way through the rest like some oddball sacrifice. Definitely the second weakest of the Friday the 13th series, Jason Takes Manhattan can be safe in the knowledge no Friday the 13th movie is going to be worse than it, so far.

Jason gets kitted up
Although this is hardly a classic of the horror genre, fans of 80's slasher films will love it. The premise is, of course, simple. A group of teenagers... okay, you already know where this is going. Anyway Jason is as angry as ever, and this time he's out for a record number of hits. There are quite a few gory kills in this movie, and some very inventive. This sequel is perhaps best known for the film that Jason gets his iconic look. Gone is the pillow case mask with eye hole cut in it, replaced by the iconic hockey mask (very willingly supplied by one of Jason's many victims). This is really where this franchise took off, for better or worse. It's worth noting that this film was originally done in 3D, hence the many obvious objects being poked and thrown straight to camera. It is a bit off putting and a little too overused, but thankfully none of the scenes last too long. There's plenty of cliches littering this film, but its all part of the fun. So if your after a good slasher to not take very seriously this is just that film.

Pretty average film with some good things about it
Part 3 is essentially the first two films with some pretty bad and gratuitous 3D shots in it. This was the first film to use 3D and it really shows. Good things about this film are a few kills but the effects are pretty bad in some parts. The film has a capable final girl and Jason officially gets his hockey mask so that’s a bonus.

ADD HOCKEY MASK, LEGEND BORN
This is the R1 deluxe edition of Friday the 13th part 3.You get some cardboard 3D glasses & the choice towatch in 3D (no thanks). It may be uncut but i'm not100% on this. So Jason completes his "look" (a great look)& sporting goods stores sales treble. Fantastic stuff.
