Nova 48308 G3 Lite Bowl Turning Chuck Bundle Direct Thread 1” x 8TPI (Includes chuck, 2" jaw set, plus 10" Cole Jaw set w HD bumper kit)

I have tried three other cheaper chucks they were either too sloppy or didn't stay clamped up. I said the heck with would try the Nova G3 with the cape chuck. Can see now why this gets so many gets good reviews. More money for it, but way higher quality. This is a keeper. Like that you can get different chucks for it too.The seller got it here really fast too. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and pay extra for higher quality .

This is my first order with this supplier and Ill definitely be back. My reason for purchasing this particular chuck was due to the Nova brand / bundle offered, specifically because of the 10" cole jaws included. I actually canceled an order for a set of 12" cole jaws immediately after running across this package deal and ended up getting another complete chuck with accessories for around $70 more than the 12" jaws alone cost and would have had to wait two weeks for delivery. It seems its almost always a crap shoot when ordering from a new supplier, or rather one I have had no personal experience with, however it seems I have been very fortunate in my random selection this time. There was no additional charge for shipping and although shipping time was listed as 4 to 9 days, this order landed on my front porch in less than 48 hrs from Canada to West Tn. Packaging was excellent. The order had been shipped inside a box perfectly sized for the chuck case and not a wrinkle in the actual chuck case cover. Inside I found, along with the order receipt, a letter with all of RG Woodworker Specialists contact information in case there were any issues or concerns. After countless frustrating vendor experiences over the years it is always refreshing to have a good one. As for the chuck; The G3 may not be the premium offering from Nova, but it is light weight, less expensive and certainly a quality chuck and although not my first choice for swinging a 14" bowl blank, it is more than sufficient for turning between centers. I've been turning for many years now and will use only hardware I can 100% trust when spinning logs 2000 rpm 12" from my face. If you are shopping for your first / only lathe chuck, I would highly recommend starting with the Supernova 2 or similar. It is larger, a bit heavier and a little more expensive, but, it is machined to near perfection, completely sealed, virtually maintenance free and there isn't much that can't be turned with it. I've had, used and abused mine +-10 yrs without hardly blowing the saw dust off of it and it is as tight and true as the day I got it. A turner can never have too many chucks, changing out jaws gets old really fast and there are always a ton of uses/ reasons for having G3's around. Cheers.

Easy to install no adaptor needed. Changing jaws is easy and most November jaws will fit it.
