Compelling read!
I read this originally back when I was 14/15 years old and I thought it was fantastic. Fast forward 15 years year at the age of 30, I read that Stephen had composed a part two so I bought another copy. I read it from cover to cover, finishing the majority of the book in one afternoon. I couldn't put it down. Powerfully written, true to the heart and it really sends the message home about addiction. Hope you're well Stephen!

At the time I considered the amazing story one of the best books I'd ever read
I read this book originaly when I was 16. At the time I considered the amazing story one of the best books I'd ever read. With this in mind, and no memory of it, I decided to read it again at 29. Since then I've been a very heavy drug user, taking chemicals 99.9% of the population have never even heard of, including Dexedrine; living the modern student dream!! For the last few years I'm happy to say I've simply grown out of it and at my happiest with a pint of cider with my friends. My point is this, I have a good memory but during those mad drug binges I recall practically nothing. The only thing I'm sure of is that I had a bloody fun time. So how on earth can a book be written with this much detail is beyond me. Especially considering he had electric shock treatment!Very entertaing yes, but I'd take the whole thing with a pinch of salt.

Only a story and full of typos!
Was an interesting read and a good story. I find it a bit hard to believe that this is all true and that probably the majority was made up for entertainment purposes. Also the publishers should be dissolved for the amount of typos, spelling mistakes and pronoun changes. I did notice that his ex wife's new husband was called Barry one paragraph, Terry for another and then back to Barry again after that. If you have OCD or get annoyed by spelling & grammar errors then don't read this. But if you can overlook that and want an interesting story then this may be for you.

take with a massive pinch of salt
i seriously do not believe half of these things happened. it all seems too far fetched. Also if you spend so much time off your head how come you can remember so much detail? At best embellished. At worst total fiction

You won't regret this purchase
I've read many autobiographies within this genre and have never been bothered to write a review. If you're hovering over the purchase button then I implore you to download it. This is the most dramatic and beautifully written book I've ever read and I promise you that it will draw you in. It is that brilliant and captivating that I postponed writing my dissertation ; I simply had to finish it.
