How roomy is the handle? Big enough for a man's fingers?

In my opinion, definitely yes. Hubby had no issues and I've definitely seen much smaller mug handles. At its widest point from edge of handle to cup, it's 2 inches of space. Awesome mugs, very very happy with them! And they are gorgeous, copper inside and out. I have another mug that isn't copper inside. Not as pretty and doesn't keep drink as cold. A+ buy IMO.

Does the lacquer allow the Moscow mule to react with the copper?

If there is a lacquer coating, it absolutely does not react with the lime, which is what you want for flavor (as well as health). If you search for UNLINED copper mugs you will find them. The reason for the lacquer is to keep it nice looking, but you are not getting the copper. Is there any lacquer or lining on the inside or outside?
